Microsoft has confirmed that multipleAge of Empiresgames will be coming to Xbox during 2023 withAge of Empires 2: Definitive EditionandAge of Empires 4planned to be added. The real-time strategy franchise from Microsoft subsidiary World’s Edge was one of the earliest successful strategy game franchises with the first game releasing in 1997. The franchise has frequently seen requests from fans to bring the strategy games to Xbox. Now, Microsoft has officially confirmed the franchise will finally be making the jump to Xbox consoles.
World’s Edge Customer Voice director Emma Bridle officially revealed Tuesday morning thatAge of Empires 2: Definitive EditionandAge of Empires 4are coming to Xbox.Age of Empires 2: Definitive Editionwas confirmed for a June 29, 2025 release date with4planned to arrive on Xbox later in the year. Bridle also announced that the Xbox versions will be compatible with mouse and keyboard control schemes, as well as crossplay with the games' PC versions. The games will reportedly be featured on the Xbox Cloud Gaming platform as well.
