Changes in Mortal Kombat 1’s Season 2 Update

Invasion Mode Is The Star Of Mortal Kombat’s Second Season

The biggest addition ofMK1’s second season, aside from delivering new characters from the first Kombat Pack, is the content added to Invasion mode. Season two has been dubbed “Season of the Blood Moon,” a fitting title considering that Nitara is the focus of the new content in Invasion mode. Nitara, played by Megan Fox, is a vampire-like Vaeternian. The trailer for season 2 establishes that she and her fellow Vaeternians have discovered that they have not conquered all of the timelines in theMKmultiverse, so they set out to do so. The player must protect Liu Kang’s new timeline that serves as a setting forMK1.

New Invasion Content Means New Cosmetics

For season 2,Invasion Modegets a new map, called a Mesa in the game, and a bunch of new challenges. On certain map nodes in theMario Party-esque mode, the player is given Klues. These Klues are solved by performing specific actions in the encounter housed at that node. Most tiles want the player to perform a specific fatality, but some challenges are more difficult to figure out. The new season also includes various new bosses to take on in Invasion Mode, including the new final boss, Bloodthirsty Nitara. Defeating the bosses and solving Klues unlocks new skins and other cosmetics.

MK1’s Season 2 Has Two New Characters

The other big addition accompanying season 2’s costumes and invasion mode challenges is the addition ofOmni-Manand a new Kameo Fighter in the form of Tremor. Omni-Man is from the hit seriesInvincible,in which he serves as the antagonist, albeit a morally complex one. He has a proclivity for vicious outbursts and is a fearsome foe, making him a perfect fit for the first Kombat Pack’s supervillain theme. While Omni-Man was the first DLC character for the game, he will be joined by fellow supervillains, Peacemaker and Homelander, by the end of the first Kombat Pack. The pack will also feature series veterans Quan Chi, Ermac, and Takeda.

Mortal Kombat 1’s second season is packed with new content and is a good indicator of what future seasons may offer for players. Invasion Mode has enough content for it that solo players who do not enjoy competing online will have plenty to come back for, and new seasonal content will ensure that this remains true. Season 2 also had additions to the Towers Mode with astory for Omni-Man’s Towerand a seasonal tower as well. This single-player content also came hand in hand with the seasonal reset for online ranked play, meaning thatMK1’s seasons appear as if they will have something for everyone.
