Amazon has released a collection of intriguing stats about its multiplayer RPGNew Worldto celebrate the game’s first anniversary. The infographic produced by Amazon reveals the massive amounts of collective play hours, most contested settlements, the total number of PvE enemies killed, and much more. To put a bow on the first year inNew World, the team also recognized some of the more important updates during the year in a collage of videos that are available on the Play New World YouTube channel.
New Worldwas undoubtedly one of the most anticipated MMORPGs, if not games, in 2021. WhileNew World’s initial reviews were mixed, the game has evolved a lot in the first year. It still easily cracks the top 20 on Steam charts, topping games likeARK: Survival Evolved.New Worldwas initially intended at first to be a free-to-play game, but Amazon instead released it as a regular, paid title, which seemed to have served them well.

The graphic shared by Amazon Games reveals thatNew Worldamassed 569 million hours played, which translates to around 65,000 average players online each hour of the year. That would currently secure it a top 10 spot on the Steam rankings, placing it just aboveGrand Theft Auto 5. The game was also popular among streamers, according to a total of 12.4 billion minutes of Twitch streams. WhilePvP was expanded withinNew Worldwith new featuresearlier this year, most of the kills were scored on non-player enemies. A total of 17.8 billion PvE kills were recorded - or over 33,000 every minute.
According to Amazon, duringNew World’s music and fishing-related Summer Medleyfaireevent, players caught nearly 43 million fish. However, the massive figure was surpassed by the craftsmen, who cut down 6.3 billion trees during the year. Speaking of crafting, the most popular trade that was increased to level 200 was cooking. While PvP stats were not revealed, Weaver’s Fen and Everfall were the most contested Settlements. Player deaths were revealed in one case, though. The most deadly boss was Alluvium Marl, The Caretaker, who managed to kill 171 players in a single Expedition instance.
New World’s first year was very eventful, not only in terms of in-game activities but updates, too. The game has required some serious iterations of bug fixes on issues like money duplication and PvP abuse. On a more positive note, the game’s strong lore has gotten even stronger, and new content has been added throughout the year. Most recently Amazon announced anew Expedition forNew Worldin the 1.6.2 update, alongside important Expedition-related bug fixed and other adjustments. In the next major update, players can expect an updated starting experience and a new greatsword weapon class.
