AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 (FSR3) has arrived. For now, there are only two games that support it.Forspoken, one of the two games with FSR3 support, already has the update whileImmortals of Aveum, the only other game with FSR3, will get the update later today. The company gave a first look at FSR3 inForspokenat Gamescom last month, and now gamers will be able to experience the performance improvements on their Radeon Rx 7000 and 6000 series graphics cards.
In November 2022, AMD unveiled its latest upscaling technology to compete with Nvidia’s DLSS 3, called FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 or FSR3. At the time, it was said to arrive in 2023 and combine AMD’s Fluid Motion Video frame generation technology with FSR upscaling. When rumors about the FSR3 launch started circulating, it was believed that Bethesda’sStarfieldwould come with support for the latest technology, but that was not the case.Starfieldstill does not have support for FSR3 but isslated to get DLSS support.

Now, AMD hasofficially released the FSR3 updateforForspokenwith theImmortals of Aveumupdate following soon. The announcement comes after Chief Architect of Gaming Solutions and Marketing at AMD, Frank Azor,tweeted last nightthat two FSR3-enabled games will arrive tomorrow. The company has now shared through a blog post thatForspokenhas received the update as of 9 a.m. ET, and thatImmortals of Aveumwill get it later in the day.Forspoken, which is only available on PS5 and PC, has become the first game to have FSR3 support.
FSR3 comes with frame generation and the new “Native AA” quality mode. It uses an enhanced version of the company’s Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF) optical flow technology to generate frames for a smoother gaming experience. According to the data shared by the company,Forspokensees a huge jump from 58 FPS (FSR3 off) to 201 FPS (FSR3 Performance Mode + Frame generation) on the Radeon RX 7900 XTX when running at 4K with Ultra High settings. The RX 6800 XT went from 37 FPS to 129 FPS. At 1440p, the RX 7600 saw a performance boost of 38 FPS to 118 FPS.

The Speedster SWFT 319 relies on Ghost Thermal and XFX’s Cooling Technology combined with 13-blade fans to ensure that temperatures are kept in check even during the most intense gaming action. To counter the latency introduced by image generation, FSR3 has its own latency reduction technology that will work with all GPUs, but the games must have support for it. Coupled with Anti-Lag+ technology, the latency can be further reduced in supported games.
AMD has also announced 12 more games that will be getting FSR3 support. Unfortunately,Starfieldis not among them. The list includesCyberpunk 2077, Eve Online, Frostpunk 2, Space Marine 2, Black Myth Wukong, Crimson Desert,and others. As of now, there is no timeline for when these games will be updated to add FSR3 support. Notably,Cyberpunk 2077recently got support for DLSS 3.5with the latest patch.
FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 is supported on AMD Radeon RX 5000 series, RX 6000 series, and RX 7000 series of graphics cards. On top of that, it is also supported by Nvidia GPUs including RTX 20 series, 30 series, and 40 series.
