IntroducingBorderlands: Tiny Tina’s Robot Tea Party, what appears to be thefirst GearboxBorderlandsannouncementplanned for PAX East. The announcement of thisBorderlandstabletop game has leaked a bit earlier than Gearbox’s likely PAX reveal, but is all but confirmed given the nature of the leak. Not only have photos ofBorderlands: Tiny Tina’s Robot Tea Partyalready cropped up online, but the game appears to be available for purchase on the PAX East show floor.
For those not necessarily excited about tabletop games, there’s more toBorderlands: Tiny Tina’s Robot Tea Partythan first implied. Judging from the art on the box, the game appears to be set years after the events ofBorderlands 2, which is in-line withrumors regardingBorderlands 3’s time frame. Tiny Tina herself appears to have aged around 5 or more years. Then on the back of the box there are images of Brick from the originalBorderlandsand the infamous Mad Moxxi - each with updated looks.

Relatively little is known aboutBorderlands: Tiny Tina’s Robot Tea Partyitself. The game is being made in partnership between Gearbox, Nerdvana Games, and XYZ Game Labs. It’s a card game, with the box featuring 80 total cards split into: 5 Claptrap Bodies, 54 Parts, and 21 Actions. It’s played by between 2-5 players and lasts around 15 minutes. It’s also recommended for ages 13+, implying a touch of thatBorderlandsPG-13 brand of humor.
Players will, according to the box, build their very own Claptrap and fill it with parts. Building the perfect Claptrap is the key to “winning” the tea party, which assuredly makes sense if one thinks likeTiny Tina. Odds are the card game will be available beyond PAX East in just a matter of time, and could be further clarified in the upcomingBorderlandsPAX East panel.
Borderlands: Tiny Tina’s Robot Tea Partyis likely the first of at least four major Gearbox announcements planned to be made during PAX East. Also, due to the art depicted on the box, it implies that aBorderlands 3set after the events ofBorderlands 2is another announcement to come from Gearbox. Of course, there’s always the possibility thatBorderlands: Tiny Tina’s Robot Tea Partyis an extra announcement and all four reveals planned will be video game related.
Borderlands: Tiny Tina’s Robot Tea Partyis available now at PAX East and will likely see a wider release soon.
