Destiny 2has a complicated game world that only grows more complex after factoring in its clever player base. From the franchise’s earliest days, fans have uncovered glitches such as thefabledDestinyLoot Cave, and attempting to find exploits that exist withinDestiny 2’s code has become a pastime for some Guardians. Now, just a day or so after its discovery,Destiny 2’s newest exploit has been quietly removed by Bungie.
The recent discovery of theDestiny 2emote glitchcentered around the “Bureaucratic Walk” emote, a tribute toMonty Pythonthat saw players able to mimic the movements of the Ministry of Silly Walks. Unfortunately, the addition of that emote also saw players able to suddenly glitch through walls inDestiny 2’s environments, meaning players have been exploring the out of bounds areas of the game. Bungie put a swift end to that today, however, as the Bureaucratic Walk emote has now been removed from Eververse, and an empty space remains where it used to be.
While the exploit had up until this point only been used to discover pre-existing hidden rooms inDestiny 2’s code, there is something of a precedent now within the game for removing glitches like these. A recent exploit saw players able to access all of theLeviathan Raid’s chests solo, and way back in the originalDestiny, players were able to use a similar glitch to uncover expansion details well before Bungie had plans to reveal them.
Given that Bungie has removed the emote without making note of it, there’s no timetable on when the Bureaucratic Walk will return - if it will at all. With DLC and other additional content in the works forDestiny 2in the future, it’s unclear how much time the game’s developer will have to fix bugs like the one plaguing the Bureaucratic Walk emote. Hopefully, however, the cheeky tribute to some comedy greats will make its return to a game that already has a stellar roster of in-game emotes to help relieve some of the stress of end-game raiding.
