Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2has been a massive success for Activision and Infinity Ward, with the latest entry in the rebooted subseries being the biggest launch the franchise has ever seen. WhileCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2reviewshave been a bit mixed, and fans have been quick to point out things that need changing, the game will surely have a large player base for the next few years. As such, Infinity Ward should aim to outdo the series’ previous battle passes in order to keep players hooked.
Currently, details on the first post-launch season forCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2are scarce, which extends to the battle pass that will be featured during its runtime. Given how much success Activision has found with the system used in the previous three games, though, fans can expect a similar approach this time around. The battle pass will likely have 100 tiers filled with everything from COD Points to weapon blueprints - though tier 100 should no longer be the end.

What Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Could Pull From Fortnite’s Battle Pass
Fortnite’s Battle Passis widely regarded as one of the best in the industry, as it features a good variety of cosmetics, an excellent progression system, and the option to progress through groups of rewards in any order. Another big strength of this battle pass is the bonus rewards pages, which are unlocked by playing and progressing far beyond the initial cap of level 100.
This system gives players a reason to keep going forVictory Royalesand working on challenges long after they have unlocked the most exciting skin of the pass, preventing them from stepping away until the next season begins. These bonus pages of rewards are filled with a lot of the same types of content as the original pages, with bonus emblems, sprays, and recolors of main battle pass skins being present.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2could easily implement a system just likeFortnite’s bonus rewards, adding ten additional tiers once the battle pass is finished. These extra tiers could take more XP to complete, and instead of adding wholly new rewards, they could instead offer simple recolors of blueprints,Operator skins, and watches from the battle pass. This way, players who only have time to clear the main 100 tiers do not feel like they are missing out, while those who finish the pass early and want more unlocks to work toward will be in luck.
What Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Could Pull From Overwatch 2’s Battle Pass
ThoughOverwatch 2’s battle passproved controversial because it locked a playable hero within, everything else about the system is excellent. Good reward variety, fair progression, and best of all, bonus rewards, are all present. Though the only bonus rewards are player titles that can be added to name cards and the in-game scoreboard, they are still a welcome addition. Further, a rumored feature suggested that those that were willing to grind beyond tier 200 would get an awesome bonus: progression toward the next battle pass. Though this has since been proven incorrect, the concept is one worth trying out.
As time passes and new games release, gamers will naturally spend more time playing someCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2seasonsthan others. One way to reward gamers that play a lot during season 1, for example, would be to allow their extra battle pass XP to carry over to season 2’s reward track. If Infinity Ward does not want to add bonus rewards likeFortnite, stored XP would be an awesome way to reward dedicated gamers, giving players who know they will be busy in the months ahead an opportunity to prepare.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
