The Season 4 Reloaded update is coming toCall of Duty: Modern WarfareandWarzone, and it’s gonna be a big one.Modern Warfarehas always been known for having anenormous file size, and the new update will increase it even more.
Every update in theseCall of Dutygames has made the file size even bigger, though Activision claims the games wouldn’t have such high quality without the size. Season 4 Reloaded will add 22-36 GB forModern Warfareplayers who already own the full game. Console players will also have to download a second file that’s about 3.5 GB and then restart the game if they want to play Multiplayer.

Warzonefree-to-play players will have to download about 22-30 GB, which is slightly smaller thanModern Warfarebut not by much. The update is about a quarter of the entire game size for those whodownloadedWarzoneseparatefromModern Warfare. The game released with a download size of 80-100 GB.
When theModern WarfareandWarzoneupdates are complete, it’s supposed to “minimally increase the overall digital footprint” of the full game. That’s better than nothing, although many players are complaining thatModern Warfare’s file size is uncontrollably huge. It’s gotten to the point where much of the community is beyond irritated, especially those with limited storage space.
TheModern Warfaresubreddit is filled with complaints about how big the game has gotten, and some people are even makingvideos making fun of Infinity Wards’s habit of releasing huge updatesover and over. Many players just aren’t convinced by the argument that “quality=size,” since other PS4 games have similar quality but aren’t taking up nearly as much space.
All the updates add to the game file size, but this update will be particularly hefty. Of course, players can alwaysuninstall unnecessary files if they want to cut backon file size. However, players should keep Data Pack 1 installed if they want to play Spec Ops or Multiplayer. Or, if players have beaten a campaign, they could toss it. Going through game files and deleting ones that aren’t needed or wanted anymore is always a good way to prune away unnecessary gigs.
