Call of Duty: WarzoneSeason 5 Reloaded has arrived. While players may be excited about the playlists and the upcoming Numbers event, they may want to avoid using the MP5 in the newCall of Duty: Warzonecontent.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s MP5was nerfed heavily at the start of Season 5, with manyCall of Duty: Warzoneplayers frustrated with the changes. The SMG was one of the fewCall of Duty: Modern Warfareweapons that could keep up with theCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warlineup, as the newer guns have outclassed the original arsenal ever since they were added. While this annoyed fans, one interesting discovery allowedCall of Duty: Warzoneplayers to make the MP5 viable once again.

A secret MP5 buffwas recently discovered that saw 10mm magazines significantly improving the weapon’s time-to-kill. This secret TTK benefit briefly brought it back into the meta, as it was able to compete with theCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warguns once again. Unfortunately, it seems like Raven was not intending for these magazines to be so strong, as they have been nerfed in Season 5 Reloaded. Mentioned in the patch notes and pointed out by @D4nzia on Twitter, the SMG’s damage was lowered from 34 to 31 when these mags are equipped.

In the Tweet, @D4nzia argues that the attachment was fine before, as it came with the tradeoff of a smaller clip size. This is a belief that was seen elsewhere, with a Reddit post from Regular_Phrase5251 seeing several players vent their frustrations. The post is filled with angry comments fromCall of Duty: Warzoneplayers, with many tired of seeing theCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warguns being pushed so hard. Others are frustrated that the gun is being nerfed in this specific way, believing that a rate of fire penalty would have been a fair change.

Other comments, like the one from Reddit user Spetz, point out that theOTs 9 SMG fromCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Waris far more overpowered but has yet to receive nerfs. With so many examples given, there does seem to be a clear disparity between theModern WarfareandBlack Ops Cold Warguns. Some fans like ribbetribbets_ make a joke out of the issue, as the player quotes the infamous “No Russian” mission by saying “remember… no viable MW weapons.” Still, most players are clearly angry with how the older weapons are being treated.

It will be interesting to see howCall of Duty: Vanguard’s weaponsperform when compared toCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s. If this trend continues,Call of Duty: Warzonecould end up favoring the newer guns once again.

Call of Duty: Warzoneis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
