Cyberpunk 2077is slowly starting its redemption arc, recently releasing its long-awaitedPS5 and Xbox Series X updatealongside a patch that fixed many of its issues. Of course, there are still heaps of problems plaguingCyberpunk 2077,making it difficult to recommend even after the changes. However, developer CD Projekt Red is still working on fixes, the most recent of which is available on PC.
The new update isn’t a ground-breaking change or massive update that fans might be hoping for. It took well over a year to get one of those, and there’s no indication that further updates will move faster. However,Cyberpunk 2077is getting a hotfix on PC, which should address at least one frustrating issue, though minor.

The new hotfix addresses audio software-related crashes that have affected launchingCyberpunk 2077,though CD Projekt Red didn’t dive much deeper than that. Of course, crashing on startup is one of the most frustrating issues that a PC game can go through, so having fewer of those is a positive. Again, it’s not a major fix, but it is a step in the right direction, whichCyberpunk 2077desperately needs more of.
Releasing a tweet is a good way to invite feedback from the community, and that’s as true as ever here. Fans have chimed in with their opinions on the hotfix, as well asthe state ofCyberpunk 2077as a whole. There are those thanking CD Projekt Red for its continued work, though others have been more critical. Comparisons toElden Ringflooded in despite how different the two games are, but that’s to be expected.
It’s ultimately unclear whatthe future ofCyberpunk 2077is at the moment. Controversial video games have experienced glow-ups pretty frequently over the last two console generations, a perk of modern consoles' ability to deploy large updates.No Man’s SkyandFallout 76are both solid examples of this, as they were both plagued with issues and criticisms at launch but have managed to find better footing in the wake of that.
Cyberpunk 2077’snegative reputation will not be so easily fixed, however. It was one of the worst technical disasters to ever hit a triple-a release, a major blow to fans following an intense marketing campaign. Even with fixes, it isn’t the RPG that many were expecting, and it likely never will be. A hotfix is a drop in the bucket, but that could still be enough to salvage some fans' opinions eventually.
