Summary

TheJustice Leaguehas provided a great deal of entertainment over the years, from animated shows to live-action films and many decades' worth of comic books under the DC Comics banner. However, they have also, less commonly perhaps, appeared in a variety of video games, where players can live out their superhero dreams by controlling their favorite Justice League members.

The wide variety of stories told and characters seen in DC video games has been impressive, particularly the combat that has always been delivered. While many of the best DC games focus solely on Batman or Superman, there have been a few where many members of the Justice League are playable.

Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe

One of the most fascinating crossover games in history, especially since it likely led to Injustice,Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universeis a fighting game within theMortal Kombatseries that featured DC characters, due to Shao Kahn and Darkseid accidentally merging into one being and pulling the two universes together.

Unfortunately, the game wasn’t as well-received as some others in theMortal Kombatfranchise, leading to a reboot after this release. It still makes for a fun fighting game, which provides all sorts of crossover fights that had fans eager to pick it up at the time, andit could yet receive a sequel.

4Justice League Heroes

A full narrative action RPG game based on the Justice League, and even going so far as to include members like Zatanna and Martian Manhunter,Justice League Heroesfocused first on the villain Brainiac attempting to enact plans by distracting the heroes with the release of various other dangers they have faced from the past.

This was all before Brainiac accidentally released Darkseid, and he took over as the primary antagonist in the third act of the game. The League members were all playable, although players started with just Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman and had to unlock others as they progressed. Best of all, two-player cooperative play was also possible, makingHeroesa great game to try with friends.

DC Universe Online

LEGO Batman 2 DC Super Heroes

Some of the very best licensed games in the world areLEGOones. When it comes to the world of DC Comics, there have been multipleLEGOgames already, but the best one for playing as Justice League characters isLEGO Batman 2,which managed to become one of thebest alternatives to theArkham Batmangames.

This game introduced Batman to Superman and involved a plot where Lex Luthor teamed up with the Joker to try and become President of the United States. Batman, Superman, and the rest of the Justice League come together in an attempt to stop them, making for a wonderfully fun story suitable for all ages.

Injustice Gods Among Us

By far the best series of games involving the Justice League,Injusticewas another fighting game in a style similar toMortal Kombat, but involving the characters from the DC Universeas they engaged in a brutal story. TheInjusticestoryline was set in a darker version of the Justice League’s world, where the Joker tricked Superman into killing Lois Lane, prompting Superman to kill the Joker and take over the Earth.

Normal versions of the heroes and villains from the DC “Prime” Universe are transported into the midst of the ensuing conflict, leading to heroes and villains fighting one another who normally wouldn’t. The impressive story and great fighting game mechanics madeInjusticeby far the most interesting Justice League game released to date, and it even got an animated movie adaption, albeit with a few changes.
