The limits ofDestiny 2players' farming capabilities were just multiplied by a factor of ten, with the newest update to the game increasing how many materials and tokens players can stack in their inventories. This should be a huge help as players prepare forthe Shadowkeep expansionthis fall, as well as after Shadowkeep launches and the game moves into its third year.

Originally the limit on a stack of materials inDestiny 2was 999. Once a certain material or currency reached the 999 limit, a new stack would start. But now, players can have 9,999 of an item in one stack. The change affects the following materials: Planetary Materials, Gunsmith Materials, Vanguard Tokens, Crucible Tokens, and Iron Banner Tokens.

From some of the footage that Bungie has shown from this fall’s Shadowkeep expansion, the price to upgrade and Masterworkthe new Armor 2.0 piecesis going to be very costly. Thankfully for those hardcore expansion preppers, this change went into effect about a month prior to the launch of Shadowkeep allowing players to really build up their reserves of these materials should they have the motivation to do so.

In general, this also eases the burden on players' inventory and Vault space because at this point with two years behind most players, even fairly casual players probably have a pretty significant stash of materials of some sort. That is unless they burned through themfinishing up the Tribute Hallthis season.

Other notable changes in this latest update include making Braytech Schematics not as rare which should help with players chasing the Wayfarer title, a reduction to the requirements toThe Mountaintop and Wendigo GL3 pinnacle weapon quests making them easier to finish, and a nerf to the Reckoning and increased drop rates for the activity’s gear.

It is clear thatDestiny 2is preparing for players needing a lot of currencies as the game moves forward considering it was revealed thatthe game will also increase the Glimmer cap to 250,000, more than doubling the current cap of 100,000. While that change did not go into effect with this latest patch, it is expected with the release of Shadowkeep.

Destiny 2: Shadowkeepreleases Jul 02, 2025 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a Stadia version also in development.
