WhenDragon Ball Z: Kakarotwas first announced, it was unclear if its story would extend beyond the Frieza Saga. Then later when it was revealed that Cell would be inDragon Ball Z: Kakarot, fans were still unsure if the game would also include the Buu Saga. Despite Bandai Namco not officially confirming or denying the Buu Saga, it turns out that the English voice actor for Goku actually confirmed the Buu Saga forDragon Ball Z: Kakarotearlier this month.
The English voice actor for Goku, Sean Schemmel, was interviewed by the website ComicBook.com earlier this month. In the interview, Schemmel said, “Kakarotis coming out in early 2020. It’s an RPG, you’re able to play the entireDragon Ball Zsaga, all the way through the Buu saga, from beginning to end.” This puts a rest to any speculation thatDragon Ball Z: Kakarotmay be reserving theBuu Sagafor a sequel or DLC, and confirms that the game will let players experienceDragon Ball Zfrom beginning to end.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotbeing an action-RPGis a bit different than what fans are used to fromDragon Ball Zvideo games. Most of the time,Dragon Ball Zgames are fighting games, and it stands to reason that some fans may enjoy the style of gameplay inKakarotand will want to see a sequel or expansions. Perhaps Bandai Namco could release expansions based on the variousDragon Ball Zmovies, or maybe the stories in the movies could be reserved for a potential sequel.
Alternatively, future action-RPGs based on theDragon Ballfranchise could be based on some of the other anime series. For example, Bandai Namco could do a prequel aboutDragon Ballitself, which would star a young Goku. It could also do an adaptation ofDragon Ball Super, or maybe even the less-lovedDragon Ball GT. There are many possibilities, but of course, it all depends onDragon Ball Z: Kakarotbeing a success first.
