Though it revealed no details about the campaign itself,Dimension 20teased the new series would be run by none other thanCritical RoleDM and voice actor Matt Mercer.
This is hardly the first timeCritical RoleandDimension 20have crossed paths. Mercer appeared inDimension 20before duringPirates of LeviathanandEscape from the Bloodkeep, and Mulligan DMed theCritical RolespecialExandria Unlimited: Calamity. Likewise, several other famous voice actors, comedians, andDungeons and Dragonspersonalities including Aabria Iyengar and Erika Ishii have appeared on bothCritical RoleandDimension 20in the past.
Fans of bothCritical RoleandDimension 20were overjoyed to see Mercer will be DMing on Dropout’s actual play series, as shown by the shows and actor’s name trending on Twitter shortly after the announcement. The two series have a unique cadence to each of them, and many players can’t wait to see Mercer showcase his legendary DMing skills in theDimension 20dome. ManyDimension 20fans also hope having Mercer spearhead an entire season will entice moreCritical Rolefans tocheck outDimension 20’sother seasonsand join their community.
At press time,Dimension 20has not revealed the setting, title, or players for this newDimension 20project. It is possible Mercer could DM another season of an existingDimension 20series, or he may spearhead a new story like Iyengar did withA Court of Fey and Flowers.Dimension 20is currently over halfway done withNeverafter, its macabre Grimm fairy tale story and 15th season.
