Attack on Titanmay already have anofficial video game tie-in, but not every fan of the franchise is willing to shell out $60 to defend themselves from a never-ending onslaught of gigantic titans. This may be exactly why one dedicated fan is working to create an unofficial fan-madeAttack on Titangame that follows a similar vein, with players donning the role of manga protagonist Erin as he hacks and slashes at titan napes within Wall Maria.

The modification, simply calledGuedin’s Attack on Titan Fan Game, is backed by the power of Unreal Engine 4, allowing for a level of graphics typically not seen in unofficial solo projects. Much like in the actual game, players use vertical manuevering equipment to navigate their way around buildings and titans, then fly in to inflict damage with their swords. While the nape is the perpetual in-canon Achilles heel of the titans, the modification allows players to slow down a Titan’s attacks by dismembering individual limbs, too.

Gamers can take a look at the trailer for the modification’s upcoming alpha below:

Releasing trailers for unofficial modifications is always a dangerous game, and the last two years have proven no exception to the rule – plenty of promising modifications received cease and desist letters from gaming publishers after their trailers have garnered attention from the masses. Last year saw the highly publicized shuttering ofPokemon Uraniumshortly after its release, and projects likePokemon Prismand theRed Dead Redemption / Grand Theft Auto 5modifications both shut downshortly after releasing their own respective trailers.

Guedin’s Attack on Titan Fan Gameis slated to eventually receive support for multiplayer gameplay, so that multiple members of the military can band together and defend the city against an onslaught of wandering titans. It’s not currently known if abnormal titans or other size varieties of enemies will show show face within the modification, but we have to admit that the latest trailer – though unofficial – does look pretty entertaining, and contains a decent amount of polish for a one-man show.

What do you think about the unofficialAttack on Titanmodification, Ranters?
