Summary
To fit the OG theme,Fortnitechanged the Item Shop to what it was back in Chapter 1, but many fans believe that this model is now outdated.Fortnitewent back in time, allowing fans to enjoy the Chapter 1 map and items pool for a month, which means it’ll come to an end at the start of December. Then, the game will most likely go back to its usual Chapters-and-Seasons system and continue with thestart ofFortnite’s Chapter 5 Season 1.
Besides the island and weapon changes, Epic Games also made some alterations to the game’s mechanics. While Season OG has been a hit so far, not every single feature or gameplay mechanic back then was superior to Chapter 4’s. For example, swimming was vaulted inFortniteSeason OG, and this has led to some unfortunate early-game deaths that were completely avoidable. Some returning players might not be as bothered by some of this since they aren’t aware of the game’s state before Season OG and don’t know what they’re missing out on.

The OG Shop was added toFortnitewith the release of Season OG, and this is yet another feature that gamers aren’t entirely pleased with. While visually, it’s certainly heartwarming to see the Item Shop look like it did back in Chapter 1, it has undeniable limitations. The OG Shop only has one page with half a dozen cosmetic items. On top of this, everything that’s available rotates every 24 hours, which means players have to either buy a skin right away or risk missing out on it indefinitely. Lastly, since it’s so compact, many items only appear as part of bundles and can’t be bought separately, forcing some fans to skip buying a cosmetic that they would buy otherwise.
Since the Item Shop’s Special Items & Bundles tab is no longer available, the OG Shop also makes it harder for fans to get access to real money packs, such asFortnite’s Infinite Drift Pack.
There’s no denying that Season OG was a hit; bothFortniteBattle Royale andSave the World reached an all-time player count record. However, not everyone feels as positively about Chapter 1, and some gamers, whether they’re recent or OG players, simply don’t enjoy the changes and would rather not go back to Battle Royale’s roots. Thankfully for these players, Season OG won’t last long.
