As a game,Fortnitehas become synonymous with character skins, using them as a way to introduce events and updates to the game. In the past,Fortnitehas seen characters from all sorts of backgrounds, pitting characters like Sasuke fromNarutoand the Demogorgon fromStranger Thingsagainst one another.
Thesheer diversity ofFortniteskinsare what make the game unique, leading to wacky crossovers between universes. According to leaks circling the internet, the next character joining the wacky skin roster is an iconic Marvel villain, and he’s showing up in his classic outfit. That character is none other than Spider-Man’s iconic villain Green Goblin.

The skin was revealed in a series of cosmetic leaks that also include Green Goblin cosmetics, Marvel’s Hawkeye, and Vi from Riot’s “Arcane” Netflix series. The leaks originated from Twitter account @GMatrixGames, who, based on prior posts, is a reputable source forFortniteleaks. Another Twitter account, verified YouTuber HYPEX, revealed a full display of the Green Goblin skin.Methods for unlockingFortniterewardsvary, but none of the leaks specified how players would unlock the cosmetics.
The Green Goblin skin is a faithful tribute to the Goblin’s earlier comic-based iterations. The cosmetics further push the tribute, as they include some of the Goblin’s iconic weapons and tools. For starters, the Goblin’s classic pumpkin bombs are going to be a back bling cosmetic. Another item being added is a new skin for the pickaxe in the form of a pumpkin staff; though it is not lore-friendly, it is very stylish and thematic with the skin. Last but certainly not least, the Goblin’s iconic bat-shaped Goblin Glider is being added as a new skin for the glider.
However, as withpast MarvelFortniteleaks, not everyone was satisfied with the content. Many fans and players questioned why the classic Goblin look would be picked over Willem Dafoe’s movie suit, especially with the most recent Spider-man movie featuring the return of the newer look. Other users called for Miles Morales and otherSpider-Man: Into The Spiderversecharacters to be featured next. Some users speculated that the movie Green Goblin skin would be added eventually, as it did not make sense to leave it out and use the comic skin only. Leaks have been pouring in rapidly, so there is potential that this is not the only Marvel skin releasing in the near future.
These leaks leave Marvel comic fans and Marvel movie fans with a win apiece, as Hawkeye skins and cosmetics were leaked as well. Though there have been no leaks regarding the movie version of The Green Goblin so far, the recent success of Spider-Man movies could lead to Epic’s hand being forced in that direction.
