Ubisoft releases two new maps for the upcoming action-adventure shooterGhost Recon: Wildlands, which detail the game’s open-world bosses, regions, and ecosystems.
There’s no denying that Ubisoft is ambitious with its games. From attempting to create anew gaming genre withThe Crewto sending gamers to save New York City inTom Clancy’s The Division, the publisher isn’t afraid to go big. So it comes as no surprise that Ubisoft is doing the same withGhost Recon: Wildlands.
Six months ago, parts of thefull map leaked, though gamers weren’t sure at the time if the map shown would be the final product. Today, the game publisher released new information about the map inGhost Recon: Wildlandsthat shows a massive area for players to explore and conquer, including numerous regions, ecosystems, and bosses.
As seen below, the first revealed map gives gamers a taste for the layout ofGhost Recon: Wildlands.Ghost Recon: Wildlandstakes place in Bolivia, and while the game’s map isn’t quite to scale likeThe Division, it will set players in the harsh wilderness the country is known for. Ubisoft says the location is “The most beautiful and dangerous place on earth.” If the previously released trailers are to be believed, this will definitely be true inGhost Recon: Wildlands.
The photo also claims the map is Ubisoft’s largest action/adventure open world to date. No measurements have been provided yet, so gamers can’t yet compare it to otherlarge-scale open-world maps, such as the one inGrand Theft Auto 5, but what’s provided does look impressive.
Ubisoft says there are26 bosses in the worldofGhost Recon: Wildlands, and they can be found within the game’s 21 regions. The map also features 11 ecosystems, which will offer plenty of variety asplayers take on the more than two-dozen bosses.
Within the vast world ofGhost Recon: Wildlands, Ubisoft says there will be plenty of activity and engagement. In fact, the game’s lead artist and technical art director, Benoit Martinez, recently revealed that the company has created an interactive world that’s alive with NPCs. Martinez said:
“We have a full agenda for the NPCs, so they really live in the world. They go to bed at night. They get up. They go to work. Whether or not you interact with them or not, they live their own life.”
Another map released by Ubisoft shows the 11 different biomes withinGhost Recon: Wildlands. Each area has its own unique climate, topography, plants, and animals. As expected, these different features will affect how players approach and take down enemies and bosses within each ecosystem. Those interested in testing outGhost Recon: Wildlandscan.
