Update 4.02 forGod of War Ragnarokis now live on PlayStation consoles, fixing several bugs and some other issues present in the game.God of War Ragnarokcame out in November 2022, and it has been a massive hit for PlayStation, selling over 11 million copies within three months.

Developer Santa Monica Studio has released several updates forGod of War Ragnarokthat fix bugs and make other improvements, with one massive update adding New Game+ mode. ThisNew Game+ update forGod of War Ragnarokadded additional armor sets, an increased level cap, and new enchantments, along with making some changes to endgame bosses like Valkyrie Queen Gna in New Game+. Now, the developer has released another update forGod of Ragnarokthat aims to fix a wide variety of bugs.

The patch notes for update 4.02 ofGod of War Ragnarokconsist of a notable list of bug fixes in a variety of departments, such as audio, combat, UI, and trophies. Each section details the fixes implemented in this update, withequipment inGod of War Ragnarokreceiving the biggest list of improvements. Some of these fixes solve crashing issues inRagnarok, while others focus on players not being able to upgrade certain pieces of equipment past level 9. For example, one bug resulted in players not getting a Gilded Coin when upgrading a shield, and gamers will now retroactively receive this item via the Lost Items Chest.

It looks like many of these bugs were introduced with the launch of the New Game+ update, as several fixes described in the notes are related to it. The new update 4.02 also makes some adjustments that are only valid for the PS4 version ofGod of War Ragnarok, including solving an issue that would cause two characters to not appear in their intended location after skipping a cinematic.

Finally, the update shares a workaround for a known issue that is resulting in players getting booted to the main menu after users would load a PS5 save that was created after importing a PS4 New Game+ save ofGod of War Ragnarok. Santa Monica Studio releasedupdate 4.01 forGod of War Ragnarokearlier in April 2023, which too focused on some issues that may have been introduced with the launch of the New Game+ update, and patch 4.02 aims to fix even more bugs present in the game.
