It seems that there aren’t any official plans forGran Turismo 7to launch on PC after all, according to Producer Kazunori Yamauchi. The franchise producer has now gone on record to clarify a recent mistranslation of one of his interviews, with some reporting that Polyphony Digital was actively researching for a PC version of the game. Yamauchi has now clarified that he was merely saying that “the possibility is not 0,” but that he and his team weren’t actually actively working on releasingGran Turismo 7on anything but PlayStation consoles. “There is nothing to talk about,” he concluded.
The mistranslation of there possibly being aGran Turismo 7for PCis bound to disappoint many racing fans who decide to game on PC. However, Yamauchi didn’t outright deny the possibility of something like that happening sometime in the future, and the fact of the matter is that Sony seems far more accepting of the platform than ever before. The obvious conclusion, then, is that while there’s noGT7being made for PC at this time, there’s nothing preventing Sony or Polyphony Digital from exploring such a release sometime down the line.
It is a bit strange, perhaps, thatGran Turismomoviemay happen sooner than the game would make its way onto PC. The upcoming movie is an odd, if not entirely unprecedented, choice for a racing franchise, though it’s bound to find its audience once it comes out in August 2023. Details about the film are still mostly unknown, but it has been announced that none other than Neill Blomkamp is directing it.
Those who intend to stick with the game’s latest iteration on PS5 have plenty to enjoy.Gran Turismo 7’s 25th anniversary content, for example, offers a number of new gameplay options and cars to chase after, and there’s bound to be more content already in the pipeline for release in the future.
