TheFortniteBattle Royale game mode has spawned many wacky and wonderful plays and tactics for winning, and some rather silly ways of losing, too. This includes the cruel, but hilarious trick ofbuilding a death trapthat tricks players into a room where they will end up getting spiked to death.
The latestFortniteclip doing the rounds is an example of a woeful way of losing. As seen in the video below, a professionalHaloplayer named Nick “OpTicManiaC” Kershner gets involved in a tense shootout with an opposing player. OpTic manages to jump and get some quick hits in, also building some shelter on the fly in order to protect himself against the enemy’s attacks. It’s all going quite well, and it looks as though he might come away from it with a successful kill–that is, until he accidentally falls off of the edge of a cliff and loses most of his health.
The player acts quickly though, scrambling to build a stairway to get back to the top and finish what he started. Unfortunately, as he’s building the staircase, he manages to drop off the edge and winds up dying in the process. The play is so bad thatCall of DutyWorld League commentator Jack “CouRage” Dunlop calls it “the worstFortniteplay ever.”
OpTicManiaC seems to be taking it all in stride, though, responding to the tweet by thanking CouRage and saying that he’s “Lovin' the support.” Several otherFortniteBattle Royale players also chimed in to say that the video (and the banter between the two) is why they love the game. The clip shows that anyone can win or lose, whether that be aplayer who hides and never gets killsor a professionalHaloplayer who apparently has poor spatial awareness.
It will be interesting to see just how many more mishaps like this end up happening following theFortniteBattle Royalemap update. OpTicManiaC probably knows the game’s map quite well and yet still managed to fall off of the edge of it. So what might happen when the map is given a bit of a refresh and players aren’t entirely used to its new locations?
The potential for more silliness is quite high. Just as players will discover new ways to win, they could also find themselves in ridiculous situations like this as well.
Fortniteis available now in early access on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with the game’s full release expected at some point in 2018.
