When the game was originally announced at E3 2018, viewers learned that Sam had left Basswood because of his breakup, about a year before the events ofTwin Mirror. As withLife is Strange, players can expect a wide range of choicesthat will likely reveal more of Sam’s past in Basswood.
The previous trailer from E3 showed Sam’s internal battle with himself, showing sam crossing a void-like expanse, undoubtedly meant to symbolize his journey to re-discover himself during the game. Whatever memories that Sam left behind in Basswood are probably best left where they are, but in order to understand what happened, he will have to dig them up.
This internal struggle with himself is what DontNod’s newest trailer seems to focus on, allowing players a glimpse into the game that they have been working on for years. As with many interactive cinematic thrillers, the story ofTwin Mirrorsis not for the faint of heart, emphasizing the most difficult moral decisions that can change the course of the entire game.
BecauseTwin Mirrorshas not revealed more about its release date other than “Coming Soon,” DontNod fans will have to speculate about the new storyline, and what possibilities it holds. However, the new trailer shows that this will be one of the studio’s more psychological games, forcing the players to fight themselves rather than society.
Twin Mirrorhas no official release date but will launch for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
