MLB The Show 22is making monumental changes to the way baseball fans play the game, both from a visual experience and the way it feels in the palms of their hands. The commentary team for this year’s installment is also set for new life, asSan Diego Studioannounced new voices to its broadcast team.
Chris Singleton and Boog Sciambi will be the new two-man duo, replacing Matt Vasgersian after 16 years in the role. Vasgersian joined theMLB The Showteam in its inception in 2006, while MLB Network analysts Dan Plesac and Mark DeRosa became additional voices in 2017 and 2018, respectively.

Jon “Boog” Sciambi and Chris Singleton are two voices the baseball community is very familiar with. Sciambi, who is currently the play-by-play announcer for the Chicago Cubs, spent time with the Florida Marlins from 1997 to 2004 and the Atlanta Braves from 2007 to 2009 in a similar role. Singleton, the former Major League Baseball player, joined ESPN as a radio analyst in 2008. The duo will be calling all the action inMLB The Show’s Franchise, Road to the Show, Diamond Dynasty, and other gaming modes, bringing new excitement to the game ahead of its inauguralrelease on the Nintendo Switch console.
In 128 separate recording sessions, which include 350 recording hours and somewhere in the ballpark of 45,000 lines of audio, Sciambi, and Singleton will provide in-depth and quality analysis during gameplay, creating a unique atmosphere that will closely resemble a real-life experience. The commentary systems have received improvements in several categories, including game intros, post-play analysis, home run calls, and much more.
San Diego Studio has also enhanced audio stitching, making a string of dialog that includes a name to have more fluidity and sound natural, while the dynamic range will bring more excitement to each call.MLB The Show 22will feature both real-game audio and past-game audio, integrating the two in a blend to deliver a fresh take on each call for every player.
As the game inches closer to launch, both San Diego Studio and Sony Interactive Entertainment are hard at work to bridge the potential loss of an MLB season and baseball fans' thirst for anything remotely close to their beloved sport.MLB The Show 22is shaping up to be one of the best baseball video games, andwith the cancellation ofRBI Baseball 23, fans of the sport will be running to gaming stores to get their baseball fix in April.
Several more announcements are scheduled this month, including an update on the March to October mode on March 17, more information on the Road to the Show on March 24, and some big reveals for the Diamond Dynasty, Live Content, and Esports content on March 31.
MLB The Show 22releases on April 5 for PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
