All six episodes ofMarvel’s latest series,Moon Knight, are currently available to stream on Disney+. While the character of Moon Knight is quite obscure to non-comic-book-diehards, Oscar Isaac does a fantastic job of bringing him to life. Fans have already gotten excited about the future of Marc Spector/Steven Grant.

However, one of the things that makesMoon Knighta unique entry in theMCUis its disconnection from the rest of the films. Compared to shows likeThe Falcon and the Winter SoldierorHawkeye,Moon Knightis separate from the normal MCU cast and events. Still, these are ten ways it may influence the future of the franchise.

10Khonshu Remains In Control

The ending ofMoon Knightcertainly hints at a continuation of Marc and Steven’s adventures. After defeating Arthur Harrow and stopping Ammit’s resurrection, Marc and Steven force Khonshu to hold up the end of his deal and set them free. What the two alters don’t realize though is how Khonshu actually played them.

In a mid-credits scene, it is revealed thatKhonshu is still in possession of an Avatarin Jake Lockley, a third alter of Marc and Steven. By the way Khonshu refers to Jake as “his friend,” it seems that these two are on much more solid terms than Khonshu and Marc ever were. A movie or second season will likely focus on this plot point.

9Layla Becomes The First Egyptian Superhero

TheMoon Knightfinale also sees big things happening for Layla El-Faouly, Marc’s wife. In her attempts to help Marc stop Ammit, she offers herself as an Avatar for Tawaret, the Egyptian goddess of fertility. Layla is even granted her own ceremonial armor just like Moon Knight, complete with Falcon-esque wings.

Though Layla calls this a temporary agreement, she shines quite a bit as Tawaret’s ass-kicking Avatar. In the middle of a fight scene in Cairo, she catches the eye of a teenage girl, impressed by seeing an Egyptian superhero. It’s possible that Layla will realize remaining Tawaret’s Avatar can help her do more good in the world.

8Moon Knight’s First Arch-Nemesis

Episode 5 finds Marc and Steven navigating their pasts in the afterlife. In one key moment, they find themselves in the aftermath of an attack on archeologists. Marc tells Steven that his commanding officer, Raul Bushman, executed everybody, and even left Marc to die before he was luckily saved by Khonshu.

Die-hard fans will recognize the name Bushman, one of Moon Knight’s first enemies in the comics. According to the series' creators, they avoided using Bushman to not confuse him with Killmonger fromBlack Panther. Maybe a future Moon Knight adventure will see the return of the man who made him the superhero.

7The Supernatural MCU Expands

Moon Knightis one of the first Marvel Cinematic Universe entries to truly plant audiences in the supernatural world. Whereas movies likeCaptain MarvelandEternalsdelve into interstellar conflicts,Moon Knightis exploring mythology and Earthly creatures. This is only the beginning of that exploration.

Down the line, there are several supernatural superheroes set to be introduced in the MCU, including Mahershala Ali’s Blade.A post-credits scene inEternalsalso alludes to Kit Harington’s character Dane Whitman taking on the mantle of Black Knight in a future movie. All these characters may even end up coming together…

6Moon Knight Becomes A Team Player

One of the most anticipated futures for the character of Moon Knight is the potential for him to join the Midnight Sons. This team of characters includes figures likeDoctor Strange, Punisher, and Blade. Fans would certainly be excited by the prospect of seeing these four characters come together under a common enemy.

It would also be a good reason to bring back Jon Bernthal as Punisher, who took ownership of the role in the NetflixDaredevilandThe Punisherseries. With Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk officially back in the MCU, Frank Castle’s reappearance can’t be far behind. It’s unclear if him and Marc Spector would get along well.

5Marc And Steven Are In London

The final moments beforeMoon Knightcuts to credits find Marc and Steven back in their apartment in London. Though this is no different from how the series began, it may be advantageous to the future ofMoon Knight. There have been many Marvel characters to reside in London in previous movies and shows.

The most significant of those would be Sersi and Dane Whitman fromEternals. Given that Sersi has disappeared after the events of that movie, Dane Whitman may be looking for some allies in Blade. Perhaps Moon Knight becomes one of these contacts for Dane, possibly as an early form of the Midnight Sons.

4Other Mythologies In The MCU

Moon Knightofficially introduces Egyptian mythology to the canon of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s far from the first mythology to find its way to screen, as Norse mythology debuted all the way back in 2011’sThor. In fact, even more mythologies may be on the way in upcoming Marvel projects.

In the trailer forThor: Love And Thunder, the debut of Greek mythology has been teased with Russell Crowe’s appearance as Zeus. Of course, Zeus is the father of Hercules, another Marvel hero who may be on his way to the big screen. Perhaps these mythological characters are all due for a meet-up, or at least an epic fight.

3The Debut Of More Obscure Characters

IfMoon Knighthas proven anything, it’s that more obscure characters from Marvel Comics have lots of potential to wow audiences. Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke were even attracted to the project due to the lesser-known nature of the character. There’s potential forfuture MCU projects to revolve around Moon Knight-level heroes.

Some of those projects may be on the way, withMs. Marvelcoming as soon as June 2022. Other fan-favorite characters like Beta Ray Bill or Squirrel Girl could also seen live-action appearances in the future. Of course, it would also be great to see heroes that are lesser-known even to Marvel fans, like Darkhawk or Ripley Ryan.

2A Focus On Deep Character Studies

A big draw of theMoon Knightseries, according to Oscar Isaac, was the appeal of doing Marvel’s first real character study sinceIron Man. If other shows likeWandaVisionhave proven anything, it’s that these series are great opportunities for fans to get way deeper with characters than the films have ever allowed.

Hopefully that doesn’t make Marc Spector or Wanda Maximoff the exceptions. It would be great ifDisney+series were utilized for audiences to become really acquainted with these characters. Then, they could make their debuts on the big screen and partake in heavy action sequences without a lot of exposition time.

1The Possibility Of Moon Knight’s Next Appearance

As of the premiere ofMoon Knight’s final episode, the future of the character is unclear. The show seems to set up a continuing story, but Oscar Isaac’s return is not yet confirmed. It’s possible that Marvel has plans they have yet to reveal to the public, and one of those plansmay involve an upcoming 2022 release.

An untitled Halloween special starring Gael Garcia Bernal as the character Werewolf by Night is expected to release in October 2022. This character has a long history with Moon Knight, as the Egyptian warrior first debuted as a villain in a Werewolf by Night solo run. This means that Oscar Isaac’s return has already been filmed.
