It’s starting to seem like a newDestiny 2leak pops up each week with new information on the direction the game is going to be heading in. While the current state of the game may not be satisfying for a good chunk of the community, it seems most players are excited to see what Bungie is planning to do with the continuedweekly advance of the Darkness. The ancient enemy of the Traveler remains the primary theme of most leaks and the latest is no exception.

Instead of offering brand new details on the next big expansion forDestiny 2, the latest leak actually expands and clarifies on a previous one which introduced the character known as the Winnower in the Collapse expansion. It’s worth noting that the rumors come again from 4chan so players should take the following with a grain of salt, no matter how good the information sounds.

According to the Anonymous poster, theDestiny 2: Collapseexpansion leakcame from a former Bungie employee who had not been involved with the project for a year and was simply posting from memory. The way the current poster speaks indicates they may also be involved with the current development using phrases like “what we have planned” but they don’t confirm that one way or another. Either way, the person does confirm that the planned expansion was originally set to beDestiny 3before the studio switched course.

The previous leak had some outdated information like thenew Darkness based subclasseswhich apparently had been dropped so the team could instead work on fine tuning the existing subclasses and adding additional options for how to play with them. In addition, the Winnower isn’t the manifestation of The Darkness but more of a major character allied with it similar to The Emissary for the Nine. They’ll remain the final boss of the Raid along with the new race called The Veil. Similar to The Dreaming City, once the Raid is completed for the first time, the Finality unlock for all players to explore.

In addition to the story missions and Raid content, four new Strikes are planned on Europa, Titan, the EDZ, and Finality. Crucible and Gambit are only getting Sandbox changes and a mix of new and returning exotics are planned including the Dragon’s Breath rocket launcher.

Mara Sov and Eris Morn will help guide the player, Calus will also reveal his evil final plan, and The Drifter’s subplot with the Vanguard will kick into high gear with the player feeling the full weight of theiroriginal decision in the allegiance quest.

Originally, Bungie was planning a full reveal at E3 2020 but due to theshow’s cancellation due to the global pandemic, the studio is instead preparing to release a teaser trailer on June 8 and a full reveal later this summer. With the studio now working from home, work has slowed but remains on target for a release sometime this Fall.

Regardless of if these rumors are true or not, this leak also seems to suffer from there are some interesting details mentioned. The fact that theCrucible and Gambit are not getting any substantial updateswill no doubt frustrate players who were hoping for something to change. In addition, with Titan supposedly getting a new strike in the upcoming expansion, it would seem that the moon isn’t going to be destroyed like many thing once The Darkness arrive. While it’s hard to believe a Bungie employee would willingly reveal this level of detail and undermine their peers, much of it seems to hit on things which could happen based on current events in the game.

Destiny 2is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
