A brand newHocus Pocus 2set video has been released, giving fans a behind-the-scenes look at the infamous Sanderson sisters’ house. The long-awaited sequel went into production nearly three decades after the firstHocus Pocusput a spell on audiences when it premiered back in 1993.
Now, with the magic ofDisney Plus, a platform that is ushering back nostalgic classics, the fandom has spoken out loud their desire to see the Sanderson witches back in action - churning the cauldron and cackling as loud as a bubbling potion. The original film stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy as the Sanderson sisters, a trio of witches whose main desire is to encapsulate their youth forever. Whenthe originalHocus Pocuswas first released, it was an instant Halloween cult-classic. However, now with the nostalgic inducing platform that Disney Plus provides, its popularity has come back twice as strong in the past few years. After fans petitioned and practically tried conjuring their own witchcraft in order for the sequel to get made, Disney finally announced in 2020 that the follow-up film was officially in the works. What truly makesHocus Pocusso enchanting and captivating is the organic chemistry between the trio. Their ability to play off of one another’s banter and witty remarks is what sets the film apart - not to mention their comedic timing.

The synopsis of the film is quite simple, and with different stars it could have easily been a flop, butHocus Pocuswasn’t just “scary,” it was also downright hilarious. Luckily all three of the original stars will bereturning for theHocus Pocussequel.Hocus Pocus 2began filming on location, across Rhode Island, during the fall of 2021. Although the first movie was shot in Salem, Massachusetts (famously known for the Salem Witch Trials), production ultimately ended up deciding to re-create an imagined version of the city for the sequel instead. Onlookers have reportedly stopped in their tracks, watching director Anne Fletcher filming exterior shots across various, incredibly intricate sets. Now, photos have been leaked and reveal some of the movie’s sets, including a Halloween festival in Newport’s town square and an entire colonial village on a farm in Lincoln.
Although these new images of the stunningly spooky sets have gotten fans excited, nothing can beat getting to once again re-visit the Sanderson sisters’ iconic home. A popular Instagram account, Hocus Pocus Guide, has the latest sneak peek at the Sanderson cottage, complete with a behind-the-scenes set video. In the video, it appears there’s a new modern take on the Sanderson’s home, which now resides as the “Olde Salem Magic Shoppe" and features potions and gifts. The set designers took inspiration from the home’s original exterior, from the Tudor siding all the way to the lead windows. Previously releasedHocus Pocus 2sneak peekshave confirmed that the Sanderson sisters will be spending a lot of time, if not the majority of their scenes as a trio, inside the cottage.
Atthe very beginning ofHocus Pocus, the camera pans to the shot of the haunted cottage, hidden deep in the heart of the Salem woods, where Max Dennison naively lit the legendary black flame candle. The Sanderson sisters’ cottage will undoubtedly play a big role in the sequel. If the three witches are brought back to life once more, they will most likely want to return to their roots. However, the Sanderson sisters also wanted dominion and power, so it seems more likely they will spend the majority of the sequel trying to conquer the new world as the past chases after them tirelessly.
Hocus Pocus 2is set to premiere on Disney Plus on Halloween 2022.
