The new type of cards inthePokemontrading card gameare called the V-Union Cards. According to the site Serebii, the new trading cards will allow players to make a more powerful card by connecting four specificPokemoncards together. The newPokemoncard will have eight different moves, players must have all four cards in their discard pile to use them, and they can only play one of each species in their deck and only once per game.

According to the site, the first set of V-Union Cards will be released as part of a special promo on August 20th. The cards will also have the added feature of having pictures of specific Pokemon when they’re combined together. The Pokemon on the V-Union Cards revealed include Mewtwo, Greninja, and Zacian.

So far, the response to the new V-Union Cards has been mixed to negative, at least on the Serebii post. Some of the commenters were confused by the new cards, while others were disappointed with this decision that seems similar to the previous Legends series of Pokemon trading cards. Where the Legends cards had players connect two cards together, the V-Union Cards has players connect four cards.

Others expressed worry that these newPokemoncards were like the famous Exodia cards fromtheYu-Gi-Ohtrading card gameseries. For those who don’t know, the Exodia cards were five cards of the legendary monster Exodia, each a different limb from his body: the head, two arms, and two legs. If a player collects five of these pieces they could summon Exodia.

While some thought the cards' full images looked good and will be worth collecting, others thought it will be a nightmare doing so and might not be worth the effort to collect them just for that. Some even predict there could be anotherscalping situation ofPokemontrading cardswith the new ones. For the most part, many of the commenters view the new V-Union Cards as a gimmick that was already done before.
