Amazon Games has just released update 1.8.3 forNew World, which marks the start of the Legacy of Crassus world boss event, along with a handful of general fixes and improvements to be expected from an MMO update.New Worldwill be seeing some updates to its world AI, resource harvesting, and outpost rush gameplay, among several other noteworthy fixes and quality-of-life improvements.

Amazon’sNew Worldhas made a lot of progress after a little over a year since it was released at the end of 2021. Though the game has continued to struggle to retain its players afterNew World’s player count fell sharplyshortly after its release. Amazon Games doesn’t appear to have been discouraged by this, however, and has remained committed to improving the game with a steady pace of major and minor updates along with various seasonal and other limited-time events to spice up the world of Aeternum. These updates have brought entirely new weapons, regions, and dungeons for players to explore, along with major improvements to gameplay, balance, and the economy.

The latest update forNew Worldintroduces theLegacy of Crassus limited-time event, in which the Roman general Crassus' level 66 cyclops captains have invaded the southern lands and are wreaking havoc. Players can find portals in Brightwood, Weavers Fen, Mourningdale, Ebonscale Reach, and Edengrove where Lucanus and Decimus may be challenged for unique rewards once a day. Additionally, players are guaranteed to receive every possible reward after defeating Lucanus and Decimus eight times, so it should be fairly easy for players to get their hands on every item between now and the event’s March 7 cutoff. Some standard rewards remain available regardless of how many times the bosses are defeated each day.

As expected of anyNew Worldupdate, a variety of bug fixes, quality-of-life improvements, and balance changes have made it into the patch accompanying the Legacy of Crassus event. Some non-interactable resources are once again harvestable, certain overly-common expedition mutations have been made less frequent, and some Dryad Soldiers that couldn’t damage players have been fixed. Some quality-of-life improvements are included, such as locked items no longer being droppable from the inventory and the “transfer all” storage button no longer transferring away locked items.

This is only the start of the year, and theNew World2023 roadmaplooks very promising especially later in the year. A highly-requested transmog system is in the works, while raid groups, quest improvements, and cross-world outpost rush are set to arrive this spring and summer.
