Boa Hancock is the ruler of Amazon Lily and the captain of the dangerous Kuja Pirates. She is a very complex character, who can at times prove to be a real handful. Boa Hancock does not trust anyone except for her sisters, and the reason behind it is quite grim. As a kid, Boa and her sisters were kidnapped and sold to the Celestial Dragons. The Celestial Dragons force-fed them devil fruits and used them for their entertainment. The sisters had no hope until Fisher Tiger broke them out of Marijoa along with the other slaves.
After coming back to Amazon Lily, the three sisters got much stronger, and eventually, they ended up as the strongest members of the Kuja Pirates. On their first ever voyage, the Kuja Pirates impressed the World Government, and their captain, Boa Hancock was offered the opportunity to join the Shichibukai, which she accepted as it would allow her to keep her island safe from any disturbance. Despite being a Shichibukai, Boa’s appearances in the series have been very limited, which made it tricky to gauge her strength properly, but after the recentOne Piecechapters, it has become slightly easier to make an estimate of where she stands in terms of strength.

Haki Expert
Boa Hancock is the current Empress of the Kuja, a tribe that is renowned for its strong Haki. With their powerful Haki, the tribe has managed to fend off all threats. It is important to remember that as they live onan island in the Calm Belt, they do come across the Sea Kings, but it has never been stated that they have caused any kind of problem for the Kuja. The islanders have no idea what a devil fruit is, which is why they only focus on strengthening their Haki. Since all the women on Amazon Lily have Haki, the ones who are a part of the Kuja Pirates are bound to have superior Haki.

Boa Marigold, one of Hancock’s second-in-commands is able to use Advanced Busoshoku Haki, and she displayed this ability in her fight against Monkey D. Luffy, where she emitted Haki to deflect Luffy’s attacks. Given the fact thatBoa Hancock is the strongest member of the Kuja Pirates, it is very likely that she might be able to use the advanced forms of at least two types of Haki. This alone makes her stronger than most characters in the series. While Hancock has not openly displayed usage of any type of Advanced Haki, there is no doubt this will change in the future.
An Overpowered Devil Fruit
Boa Hancock possesses the Mero Mero no Mi, which is a paramecia type devil fruit. The devil fruit operates on the feeling of lust that Hancock’s opponents bear towards her. Due to Hancock’s immense beauty, it is nigh impossible for her opponents to not be affected by the attacks. In certain cases, her devil fruit has even affected inanimate objects, which implies that there is more to Hancock’s devil fruit than meets the eye.
In the last fewOne Piecechapters, it was revealedthat Blackbeard hadmade his way to Amazon Lily to steal Boa Hancock’s devil fruit. It is quite obvious that Blackbeard does not go out of his way unless there is a special situation. However, Blackbeard did not reveal why he wanted her devil fruit, but it is definitely suspicious.

With her devil fruit, Boa Hancock can turn entire armies to stone, and the only counters to this devil fruit that have been seen so far include distracting one’s mind with pain or not having impure thoughts about Boa Hancock at all. Using the first method can prove to be fatal while fighting as it would mean weakening one’s own self, and the second method is something that cannot be learned. So, at the moment Boa Hancock’s devil fruit does not have a direct counter.
The Strongest Shichibukai?
For a long time, many fans have believed that a character’s bounty is indicative of their strength, and as Boa Hancock had a bounty of just 80 million berries, she was overlooked in power scaling debates. However, Oda has dismissed this notion several times already, an example being the equal bounties ofthe three Worst Generation captains. Oda clearly showed how superior Luffy is to Law and Kid, but all three of them have the same bounty of 3 billion berries. So, does this mean that they are equal in terms of power? Definitely not. Luffy managed to beat Kaido on his own, and he can use advanced forms of all three types of Haki, while Kid and Law had to band together to defeat Big Mom. So, Boa Hancock’s low bounty did not prove anything other than the fact that it did not take long for the World Government to acknowledge that she could pose a huge threat to them.
Boa Hancock’s new bounty is 1,659,000,000 berries, which is a huge leap from her original bounty. What’s surprising is the fact that Boa was not even involved in any major event, unlike the other Shichibukai. If she were a part of the Cross Guild like Mihawk and Crocodile, then her bounty would have easily been above 2 billion berries. Her strength has been acknowledged by the likes of Blackbeard, Sengoku, Aokiji, Koby, etc., which shows that she is not someone to be underestimated. The only Shichibukai whose power is comparable to Hancock’s is Dracule Mihawk. AsOne Pieceenters the final saga, Oda will definitely give Boa Hancock her moment to shine, where she can show off her true power.
