Come March, Pedro Pascal will be the leading two of the most prominent series on Earth right now,The MandalorianandThe Last of Us. However, for all the stardom the actor has found on Disney Plus and HBO, Pascal doesn’t like doing his Din Djarin voice forStar Warsfans.
The Mandalorianis set to return with season 3 premiering at the beginning of March, meaning Pascal will be Hollywood’s undisputed leading man on TV and streaming for at least three weeks. During an appearance onThe Graham Norton Show(viaHuffington Post), Pascal explains that doing hisMandalorianvoice for fans is one of the worst things anyone can ask him to do. “It is so creepy and doesn’t work in real life,” Pascal said, referring to Mando’s speaking tone as a “low register ‘bedroom’ voice.” It’s not just a matter of Din Djarin’s helmet voice not working without the headgear. “People come up to me and ask me to do the voice for their kids,” Pascal said, but the end product “sounds inappropriate.”
In recent interviews, Pascal’s gripes withThe Mandalorian’s iconic beskar armorhave resurfaced, as the actor has always expressed that the entire suit is heavy and uncomfortable. Nevertheless, the nature of Mando’s role has allowed Pascal to enjoy some flexibility when filming. His two body doubles Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crowder dos Santos have often stood in for him, with the lead actor recording his lines later to allow for better scheduling.
