Summary
APokemonfan has designed three new Eevee evolutions using original types that aren’t actually featured in the games. Eevee has been one of the most popular Pokemon since it debuted in the Generation 1 games. While manyPokemonfans like Eevee simply because it’s cute, the creature’s unique ability to evolve into a variety of Pokemon of different types has also helped it become so popular.
In theGeneration 1Pokemongames, Eevee was able to evolve into Water-type Vaporeon, Electric-type Jolteon, and Fire-type Flareon. LaterPokemongames introduced more Eevee evolutions, aka Eeveelutions, with Psychic-type Espeon, Dark-Type Umbreon, Ice-type Glaceon, Grass-type Leafeon, and Fairy-type Sylveon all added to the mix.Pokemonfans have been waiting anxiously for new Eevee evolutions, but it’s been over a decade since Sylveon’s debut inPokemon X and Ywith no new Eeveelution in sight.
With The Pokemon Company seemingly uninterested in designing official new Eevee evolutions,Pokemonfans have taken matters into their own hands. Artists have created all kinds of original Eevee evolution designs over the years, typically imagining an Eeveelution based on an existingPokemon typethat has yet to be represented. Reddit user and artist In-ProgressPokemon did something a little different with their new Eevee evolutions. They designed a Slime-type Eeveelution called Goopeon, a Grim-type called Reapeon, and a Curse-type called Voodeon.
Slime, Grim, and Curse are all made-up Pokemon types, but they could easily translate to real Pokemon types. Slime type would be analogous toPoison-type, while Grim could be Dark or Ghost-type. Curse would fit well as Dark, Ghost, or even Psychic-type. Regardless, the Eevee evolution designs are impressive, and will no doubt leave fans hungry for some more official new Eevee evolutions from the mainlinePokemongames.
At one point, there seemed to be a pattern when it came to new Eeveelutions. New Eevee evolutions were introduced in every even numberPokemonGeneration until Generation 8, asPokemon Sword and Shieldlaunched with no new Eeveelutionsfor fans to add to their roster. The Generation 9Pokemongames,Scarlet and Violet, have no new Eevee evolutions either, so all eyes will be on the Generation 10Pokemongames to see if they finally fill the void.
There are stillnine Pokemon types without Eeveelutionsat the time of this writing, so there are plenty of possibilities for the developers to explore. In the meantime, fans can expectPokemonfan artists to continue creating their own takes on Eeveelutions.
