NewPokemon GOupdate in the works, Niantic claims that update will bring back the Capture Location feature, as well as fix issues withPokemon GOPlus.

Niantic releasedPokemon GO Plusa week ago, which, for the retail price of $35, gives players a wrist accessory that allows them to play the game without being glued to their phones while walking around. While specific sales figures forPokemon GO Plusaren’t yet available, it seems that the release was a success, with multiple online retailers listing the item as “out of stock,” while sellers on eBay have them listed foraround $100 a piece.

Niantic is undoubtedly hopeful that the release ofPokemon GO Pluswill breathe new life into the augmented reality game, which haslost 79% of its player totalsince its peak in July. However, like many things inPokemon GO’shistory, the release ofPokemon GO Pluswas not without its flaws;Android users complainedthat the wrist accessory wasn’t properly syncing with their Android device.

Today Niantic announced that they were in the process of updatingPokemon GOfor both Android and iOS. Here’s what Niantic had to say about the update:

“Pokémon GOupdated to version 0.39.0 for Android and 1.9.0 for iOS:

Trainers,

Pokémon GOis in the process of being updated to version 0.39.0 for Android and 1.9.0 for iOS devices. Below are some release notes and comments from our development team.

We appreciate your continued support and have some exciting features and changes coming soon.

From what can be gathered from Niantic’s announcement, it appears that this update will not address the issue that Android users were having with thePokemon GO Plusaccessory, but it does fix a few features while bringing one back, though in a slightly different form.

The update brings back the “capture location” feature that was removed in an earlier update due to the feature being effectively broken. However, in its original form the “capture location” feature was displayed as a little map in the Pokemon info screen. In its new form the capture location has been downgraded to just a line of text with the city and state. The update also fixes the problem players were having with not being able to capture Pokemon that were attracted using incense in conjunction with thePokemon GO Plusaccessory.

While this update does address some of the issues that plaguePokemon GO, many players were undoubtedly hopeful that this latest update would introduceplayer vs. player battles. But it appears that those trainers will just have to wait a little longer.

Pokemon GOis currently available on mobile iOS and Android devices.
