Pokemon Unite’s roster is set to add another member next week in the form of Fairy-type Pokemon Comfey. Since the MOBA spinoff of the beloved monster-catching franchise debuted in July 2021, its roster has more than doubled in size from the 20 Pokemon available at launch. The game has featured a variety of fan-favorite creatures from throughout the history of the long-running series, most recentlyadding Dragapult earlier this month.

New additions toPokemon Unite’s roster have come in all shapes and sizes from throughout the franchise’s massive selection of Pokemon. Hulking Pokemon with intimidating forms like Tyranitar and Urshifu have also been joined by smaller more nimble creatures like multiple Eeveelutions and Azumarill. The MOBA has even featured several Legendary Pokemon as a part of its roster, including Mythical creatures like Mew and Zeraora.

A brief update fromPokemon Unite’s social media accounts revealed the flower Pokemon Comfey as the next creature to join the game’s roster. The post did not give any information about how Comfey will play in the MOBA, but confirmed it would release one week after the post on February 2nd. Comfey will serve as the 48th creature added tothe growing roster of thePokemonMOBA, which has featured monthly releases since a few months after its launch. Fans have already begun to speculate how Comfey will play in-game, assuming the Pokemon will take on a more supportive role.

Comfey’s debut will come asPokemon Unitehas increasingly experimented with unique play styles and mechanics throughout recentPokemonreleases. Pokemon likeUrshifu have experimented with different move setswith players able to choose between its Rapid Strike and Single Strike stances. Others like Hoopa and Sableye have experimented with unique mechanics like Hoopa’s teleportation abilities and Sableye forcing opponents back to base. Some fans have drawn comparisons toLeague of Legends' Yuumi as an inspiration for how Comfey may control inPokemon Unite.

The newest member ofPokemon Unite’s roster comes as the long-running franchise has made waves in recent months. The release ofPokemon Scarlet and Violetproved to be a massive success forPokemon’s video game branch, selling 10 million units within just days of the games' release. The Pokemon Company would also reveal its anime would be undergoing a major change,saying goodbye to its longstanding protagonist Ash.Pokemon Unitehas been a strong spinoff for the franchise since its launch and will look to maintain its position as the franchise enters a new era.
