Being nearly seven months removed from the launch of the successful Wild West adventure of Rockstar Game’sRed Dead Redemption 2, those outside of the traditional home console space have voiced their desire for the game to come to PC. While fans have gone to great lengths, such as having petition signings for aPC port ofRed Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar Games and publisher Take-Two Interactive haven’t said a word on when, or if, the game will release on other platforms.
While it isn’t an official confirmation, the resume of a former Rockstar employee signifies there’s a good chance that fans may get their wish of aRed Dead Redemption2PC release in the future. Former Physics Programmer at Rockstar Toronto Nan Ma’s LinkedIn profile at one point showcased a list of games he worked on during his nearly seven years with the company (he left back in October 2016, the same monthRed Dead Redemption 2was announced).
Notable games Ma helped ship includeMax Payne 3(2012) andGrand Theft Auto5(2013), as well as the latter’s online mode. He’d also worked onRed Dead Redemption 2, however he had listed the game for PS4, Xbox One, and PC platforms. While his profile has since been updated to exclude this information, a screencap of the profile can be seen below (via Reddit). Ma is currently the CEO and founder of developer Future Immersive, which specializes in virtual reality.
While Take-Two hasn’t budged on the PC debate, the publisher has been vocal about the traction and importance PC gaming has gained in the last decade. WhileRed Dead Redemptionremains exclusive to home consoles, the company did decide tobringGrand Theft Auto 5to PCshortly after the game launched on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
GivenRed Dead Redemption 2outsold its predecessor’s lifetime salesin a matter of weeks, plus the increased popularity of stream platforms such as Twitch, odds are Take-Two is already working on how to make the game available to as many players as possible.
If there’s any reason as to why PC players haven’t receivedRed Dead Redemption 2on their platform of choice yet, chances are the development process is similar to that ofGTA V’s port situation. While it had no direct reasoning other than needing “a little more development time” to getGTA 5to PC, fans are hopefully a port ofRed Dead Redemption 2is certain. However, given Rockstar’s history of wanting to release its games as polished as possible, combined withthe scope ofRed Dead Redemption 2’s open-world, there’s a wide range of speculation as to when the game could eventually launch anywhere else.
