Summary

Just like in the firstRemnantgame,Remnant: From the Ashes, there are a whole lot of different Weapon Mods for players to craft inthe hit ‘soulslike with guns’ game,Remnant 2. To do this, they’ll first need to defeat some bosses, as Weapon Mods are made in this universe by taking some material from a defeated boss and bringing it back to McCabe so she can fashion it into some supernatural device.

Once that’s done, players can then socket those Weapon Mods into any of their guns that have a space for it, be it a Hand Gun or Long Gun. And, as they trek through their Campaign (or Adventure Mode) and steadily upgrade their guns, these Weapon Mods will also deal more damage with every upgrade. So, with all that information out of the way, let’s go over some of the best Weapon Mods players can craft inRemnant 2, why they’re so good, and where players can find the materials for them.

Remnant 2 - Harvester Bots In Action

Updated July 14, 2025 by Jacob Buchalter:Now that the third and final DLC for Remnant 2, The Dark Horizon, is out, the game is basically about as complete as its going to get, excluding some general balance patches and overall updates. Since the full Remnant 2 experience is now entirely available, it felt like a great time to take another extensive look through the craftable Weapon Mods in-game. Thankfully, while there are a ton of weapons in Remnant 2 with exclusive Weapon Mods they can’t switch out, there are also a whole bunch of weapons with open slots for players to put in whatever crafted Weapon Mods that they desire. These are what we feel to be the strongest and most memorable craftable mods, based on our experiences over multiple runs of the game on every difficulty mode available.

Detritus Foundry - Dark Horizon DLC

The Harvester Bots Weapon Mod is one that was added inRemnant 2’sfinal DLC,The Dark Horizon. WhileThe Awakened Kingtakes place in Losomn andThe Forgotten Kingdomtakes place in Yaesha,The Dark Horizonis set in N’Erud. And, N’Erud is a realm that’s heavily inspired by futuristic tech and sci-fi/space horror. As such, of course, the Weapon Mod that summons a swarm of harvesting robots.

While this Mod is active, both the player and their allies gain a stack of Drain, a buff that gives them 5 percent Lifesteal for the entire duration, which is often a lifesaver during boss fights. Granted, there are better ways to get more Lifesteal and even better Weapon Mods for Lifesteal, but none of these other options grant it to all allies at once, making Harvester Bots a great Weapon Mod for a support build. And, considering how support-centric the new Archetype is, AKA the Warden, it feels like this Weapon Mod was designed to be used in a Warden support build.

Voidlight Core

Mucid Terrarium - Dark Horizon DLC

Voidlight is an incredibly unique and interesting Weapon Mod that was also added toRemnant 2as part ofThe Dark Horizon DLC.The reason the key descriptor for this Weapon Mod is ‘unique’ is because it’s basically a black hole that the player creates, fires their own bullets into, and watches as the black hole explodes and kills all nearby enemies. Essentially, depending on the amount of damage dealt to the Voidlight projectile while it’s active, the 5 projectiles it spawns will deal even more damage to the enemies they home in on.

In a Mod Power build, Voidlight is actually incredibly powerful, it just might not seem that way until a player gets their entire build online. Additionally, because this Weapon Mod basically demands a different playstyle approach when using it, it can take some getting used to. However, among the few craftable Weapon Mods inThe Dark HorizonDLC, this is by far one of the most memorable additions.

Remnant 2 - Heatwave Weapon Mod

Ceramic Flask

Proving Grounds - Forgotten Kingdom DLC

Compared to a lot of the other Weapon Mods inRemnant 2, Flying Bomb Trap might look very basic. There are Weapon Mods that cause players to spawn gigantic flaming tornadoes, summon ethereal swords to fight for them, and more, while Flying Bomb Trap literally just places some automated ceramic flask traps on the ground. However, the visuals are a bit deceptive, as this Weapon Mod is not only fantastic for area denial when clearing maps, but it also has some incredible damage potential. Each flask of a trap has the potential to hit an enemy multiple times, there are 5 traps total, and each one deals Acid damage and applies the Corroded Ailment.

With the right Traits, Rings, Amulets, or Archetypes equipped, Flying Bomb Trap not only deals an absurd amount of damage, it basically recharges itself on a single hit against an enemy. The only real downside of this Mod is how lackluster it is against flying enemies and the fact that it’s a bit of a menace in co-op, reminiscent of Weapon Mods like Firestorm

Forge Ember

Cinderclad Monlith Boss in Desert Atelier map - Forgotten Kingdom DLC

Heatwave is an incredibly deceptive Weapon Mod. Due to its lackluster visuals, at a glance most players tend to think it doesn’t do much. Then, when reading the effect of this Mod, players will probably think that getting an enemy standing in the aura for 3+ seconds is long enough to kill them by default. However, on the right build with the right Traits leveled (Amplitude, for example) this Weapon Mod can output an absurd amount of damage.

It’s not great for clearing out small mobs, as players can usually take them out in the time it would take for the burning effect of Heatwave to proc, but against any tankier enemy or close-range boss especially, Heatwave is incredible. Additionally, due to the Invoker and a lot of Skill and Weapon Mod effects being extended with new gear in the Forgotten Kingdom DLC, Heatwave has the potential to last a pretty long time.

Bone Sap

Bloat King - Losomn

Leading the pack at the bottom of the rankings is Voltaic Rondure, a mod obtained from one of the most tedious bosses inRemnant 2,the Bloat King. The Bloat King is found in Losomn’s Great Sewers, and while this isn’t a difficult fight on the easier to middling difficulties, on Apocalypse especially, this fight is an absolute drag. However, if players overcome it, they’ll be rewarded with the Voltaic Rondure Weapon Mod, which is obviously replicating the orbs of shock energy that ‘powered’ the Bloat King.

However, while this Weapon Mod is useful with the right buildtailored around Weapon Mods or Elemental Damage, it requires some pretty niche circumstances to be amazing. Because this ball of Shock Energy doesn’t follow targets but rather floats in one direction, it’s only really useful in very small rooms with a lot of enemies. Thankfully, there are a lot of these types of rooms in the Awakened King DLC, so it’ll at least be extra helpful there.

Hex Wreath

Sunken Witch - Losomn (Awakened King DLC)

A whole lot of the new Rings, Weapons, Mutators, and Weapon Modsin the Losomn-based Awakened King DLCforRemnant 2are centered around Status Effects. Players wanted a build that was focused around Elemental Damage and/or Status Effects ever since the game first came out back in July 2023.

Now they have that optionthanks to the Ritualist Archetype, and the Creeping Mist Weapon Mod is one of thebest options for that Archetype. Gained by beatingthe Sunken Witch mid-boss in the DLC content, the Hex Wreath (which is turned into the Creeping Mist Mod) is a debuff that simply makes Status Effects even stronger. Granted, the Ritualist builds are already melting enemies in the game by default, but add this Mist on top of it and it’s no wonder the Archetype is so popular.

Summon builds inRemnant 2are also very strong. Whether it’s a build based around the Handler’s Dog, the Summoner’s Root Minions, or even the Engineer’s Turret, Summon builds just tend to have a lot of damage, lifesteal, and survivability. And, the more Summons players can have active at once, the better. Upuntil the Awakened King DLC, the only ‘real’ options Summon-players had for Weapon Mods were Space Crabs, Rootlash, and Familiar.

But now, they can add Knight Guard into the mix, as this Mod conjures up two spectral swords that automatically attack any nearby enemies (both with melee and with ranged attacks). Their damage isn’t mindblowing or anything like that, but they’re very dependable summons, and they’re also one of the only player-controlled elements of the game that can apply the Cursed status onto enemies.

Wretched Skull

Bruin, Blade of the King - Losomn (Awakened King DLC)

Last up for the new Modsintroduced in The Awakened King DLC, there’s the Ring of Spears. Granted, this Weapon Mod can be a bit difficult to use, given that players are locked into a lot of small animations when they try to use it in the middle of combat. But, if players can time their inputs right, Ring of Spears is a very powerful Weapon Mod.

Think of it like the Ouroboros Weapon Mod that’s attached to the Deceit Long Gun, except instead of reacting to melee damage, these Spears are player-controlled. Not only that, but the damage seems to be better, the rotating ring of weaponry is larger, and intelligent players can even verify to line things up so that the Spears they recall back to them re-pass through enemies to deal even more damage.

Remnant 2 - Space Crabs

Twilight Dactylus

Kaeula’s Shadow - Yaesha

InRemnant: From the Ashes, players could slap together a ‘summoner’ sort of build using specific Weapon Mods, Rings, Amulets (self-obtained or traded), and other gear, but it was much less of a viable or realistic build than most of the other ones that game offered.

Thankfully the Archetype system inRemnant 2introduces a literal Summoner class players can now start as, and Rootlash is one of the best Weapon Mods to use with it. For one, these ‘root tentacles’ count as Summons, which means anything that affects allies/summons will affect them, such as the Soul Guard Ring or the Soul Link Ring. Two, every hit they inflict on an enemy will heal the player for 1.5 percent of their max health, giving them so much more sustainability (especially when stacked with the Soul Link Ring). And three, they auto-target enemies, meaning players just need to fire them out and the tentacles will hunt on their own.

Cracked Shell

Primogenitor - N’Erud

Now it’s time to talk about Space Crabs. These adorable little face-hugger summons are spawned from a Weapon Mod players receive after fighting the Trypophobia-inducing boss, the Primogenitor. Taking this Cracked Shell to McCabe will get them the Space Crabs mod, which has some interesting interactions. A couple of months ago (at the time of writing this) Space Crabs used to activate the Detonation Trigger amulet, which was incredible. Sadly, they did patch this out in an update not long after, but the Weapon Mod is still pretty good overall. The key thing about Space Crabs is the fact that it triggers equipment that mentions either summons or explosions, which can create some pretty unique builds.

Even just building this Weapon Mod around the ‘summon’ aspect, they’re still pretty useful for just auto-hunting down any enemies players may have missed nearby or giving players some easy healing and/or stacks of Bulwark.
