There has been a whirlwind of news (and speculation) surroundingthe recent announcementof Capcom’sResident Evil 3 Remake, and now the minimum PC specs that players will need have been revealed. There’s no word yet on what the game’s recommended specs will be, but at the very least excited fans will know whether or not their machines can handle the game.
TheResident Evil 3 Remakehas been on fans' minds since before it was officially announced; the game’s existence was actually leaked before Sony could break the news during its State of Play. In the following weeks, Capcom released a few trailers and confirmed thereturn of a couple of charactersfrom the original game before finally announcing its minimum specs.

As it turns out, theResident Evil 3 Remake’s specs aren’t all that different from theResident Evil 2 Remakerelease earlier this year, so players should already have an idea of how the game will run if they’ve playedRE2.This makes sense:RE2andRE3run on the same engines and visually appear quite similar, so players with less-powerful PCs don’t have to worry. If they can runRE2, they can runRE3too. Either way,RE3’s minimum requirements include 64-bit versions of Windows 7, 8.1, or 10, and at least 8 GB of system RAM; the full specs can be found below.

Given all that, theResident Evil 2Remake’s recommended specs are probably a decent starting point for players too–and those specs included a Core i7-3770 or AMD FX-9590 or better and also 8 GB of RAM. After thesuccess of theRE2 Remake, selling nearly 5 million copies, mostResident Evilfans suspected it was only a matter of time before a remake ofRE3(and other entries in the series) came to fruition.
Upon its release, theResident Evil 3 Remakewill also come bundled with Resident Evil Resistance, an asymmetrical multiplayer game set in the same universe, which Capcom designed in the same vein asDead By Daylightand similar titles. TheResident Evil 3 Remakewill release on July 16, 2025, for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
