Earlier this year, Guerrilla Games and Sony launchedHorizon Forbidden Westto rave reviews, with many praising the game as a worthy successor toHorizon Zero Dawn. It’s been nearly six months sinceHorizon Forbidden West’s launch, and while the game has received some important updates since its initial release, there have been no announcements about it getting any substantial DLC expansion.

However, there is some evidence thatHorizon Forbidden WestDLC could be in the works. As spotted by GamesRadar, Peggy Vrijens, who helped with Aloy’s motion capture work, posted a video reel to Instagram of her in a mocap suit. Vrijens then shared an additional post that showed her with Louis Van Beek. As it so happens, the two previously worked together onHorizon Forbidden West. The social media posts have led to speculation that motion capture work is being done forHorizon Forbidden WestDLC, though that remains to be seen. It’s entirely possible that the two are working on a different project, as unlikely as that may seem.

It wouldn’t be surprising at all for Sony and Guerrilla Games to capitalize onHorizon Forbidden West’s popularity with DLC. After all, that’s exactly what they did withHorizon Zero Dawnand itsFrozen WildsDLC.The Frozen WildsDLC forHorizon Zero Dawnlaunched about nine months or so after the original game, so it stands to reason that ifHorizon Forbidden Westis getting DLC, it could very well be aiming for release at the end of the year.

IfHorizon Forbidden WestDLC does come out, it will be interesting to see what exactly it entails.Horizon Zero Dawn’sFrozen Wildsfeatured a brand-new location for players to explore, and it also featured some new story content. Thestory developments inHorizon Zero Dawn’sFrozen Wildsexpansionwasn’t all that consequential to understanding what’s happening inForbidden West, so it’s possible any DLC for the new game will similarly be more of a side-story than anything else.

There are rumors thatSony is planning to host a showcase in Septemberwhere it will shine the spotlight on the various projects it has in development, likeGod of War Ragnarokand games that are pegged for release in 2023. If that showcase comes to pass as rumored, then it wouldn’t be surprising for theHorizon Forbidden WestDLC to make an appearance as well, assuming it exists at all. For now, fans of the franchise should keep their fingers crossed, but wait for an official announcement before getting their hopes up.
