TheMonster Hunterfranchise has a long history on Nintendo platforms. Even the Nintendo Switch has hadMonster Hunter Generationsreleased for it, but it’s no secret that Switch owners are anxious to have another original majorMonster Huntergame released for the platform. Rumors have recently indicated that time may be sooner than expected. Confirmation has yet to come through, but if the latest news is accurate then aMonster Hunteron Switch reveal could be coming sooner than expected.

Wushu Studios communications manager and industry insider Shinobi602 provided an update regarding theMonster Hunteron Switchsituation on Saturday. In a thread on ResetEra, Shinobi602 responded to another user asking ifMonster HunterSwitch will be revealed at September’s Tokyo Game Show digital event. The2020 Tokyo Game Showis currently scheduled to begin on September 24, running through September 27. It’ll be a showcase of major upcoming Japanese games and products and Capcom has already confirmed its participation. But if Shinobi602 is right, Capcom may simply be providing further information about the newMonster Huntergame for Switch, rather than announcing it for the first time.

As for what event Capcom might announceMonster Hunterfor Switch at instead, it’s anyone’s guess. The next significant gaming event will be PAX Online, which runs from September 12 through September 20.PAX Online seems to be more community-focused, rather than industry-focused, however. There’s also the possibility of an impromptu partner Nintendo Direct just for Capcom, as it would likely get a ton of interest online without having to worry about competing for press.

With an announcement potentially on the horizon, fans are left considering just what kind ofMonster Huntergame they’d like to see come to the Nintendo Switch. After all,Monster Hunterrecently went through some major changes with the release ofMonster Hunter World. The more accessible experience proved to be themost successfulMonster Huntergame yet, so it’ll be interesting to see whether Capcom delivers a version of that for Nintendo Switch or if Capcom will return to the more traditional gameplay from Generations and prior.

Another possibility is that the newMonster HunterSwitch game is completely different than those prior. It could be more like themobile device RPGMonster Hunter RidersthanMonster Hunter World. WithMonster Hunterbecoming a global franchise, Capcom has a lot of expectations to meet. Hopefully, it delivers, whether that’s sooner or later.
