Sea of Thievesrecently entered its fifth season of content after the last season concluded in early December. These content updates last a varied number of weeks and bring new additions, fixes, and limited time events to the game world. Season 5 in particular brought quite a few updates and upgrades to the game that players have been taking advantage of since it launched.

Sleeping Away Injuries
Leading off this list is an update that feels as though it should have always been in the game: sleeping. As part ofSea of Thieves’Season 5, players will find a bed onboard their ship. Though sleeping may not seem like a useful feature at first, injured players can climb into this cot andslowly heal through sleeping.This is a really useful addition to the game, especially for players who are short on food.
Brand New Quest Board
Though the world ofSea of Thieveshas a surprising amount of things to doalready, players have a new option with Season 5:checking in on the new quest board.This location has been added to the main dock at outposts, and it holds a variety of player-created treasure maps. Interacting with this board brings up the option to grab any of these maps and take on their challenge.
Player-Buried Treasure
Speaking of which, a new feature added with this season is that of burying any treasure a player finds. When players pull out their shovels, they should be alerted to the fact that they can nowplace valuable items and bury them on almost any island.Doing so creates acustom treasure map inSea of Thieveswith that treasure’s location marked on it.
This can be kept with the player, or brought to a quest board and shared with theSea of Thievescommunity. If another player accepts this quest and successfully completes it, then both that player and the player whoburied the treasure inSea of Thievesreceives a reward.
Flares and Fireworks
Players who have jumped into Season 5 will likely have already tried to light up the sky with these new items. Aside from the differenttypes of cannon balls inSea of Thieves, already onboard a player’s vessel are two flares, one red and one white. However, players can pick up even more. These flares have been added to the game for crews that get separated to alert one another to their ship’s location.
Fireworks have also been added to the game and these, as well as the flares, are commonly found in chests on the islandsplayers sail to inSea of Thieves. On top of this, entire crates of different fireworks can be purchased from the Merchant Alliance to give crews a variety of options when it comes to lighting up the sky.
Three New Songs
Sea of Thieveshas a number of instruments on which players can play a list of different songs. Some of the more classic shanties in history have already been added to this game, but Season 5 has added to this list. Players will now find that they can play three new tunes while jamming with their crew:Ballad of the Mer, Infernal Galop, and Row, Row, Row Your Boat.
