Bluepoint Gamesis well-known for its video game porting and remaking talents. Most recently, the studio has been working ontheShadow of the Colossusremakefor PS4, improving its graphics and making the critically acclaimed action-adventure game more appropriate for a modern console. That game releases today (in North America) and it seems that Bluepoint Games is already moving on to its next project.
Bluepoint Gameshas posted several job listings that confirm that the developer is set to remake yet another classic game. A listing for a senior graphics engineer explains that Bluepoint is seeking someone that has “brilliant programming talents [that are] too big for a narrow box in corporate game development” and is “inspired by solving hard problems using any means necessary.”

The hired candidate will be “developing AAA titles for latest-gen home consoles” and Bluepoint Games also confirms that it is currently “remaking a classic for current-gen game systems.” As a result, Bluepoint is “growing [its] capabilities as a team and raising the bar for what fans anticipate from [it].” Several other job listings for a senior 3D character artist, a VFX artist, and an environment concept artist all mention this classic game remake.
Predictably, fans of the developer have already taken to social media to speculate on what Bluepoint Games might be working on next. A popular suggestion is aDemon’s Soulsremake. Calls for aDemon’s Soulsremake have only grown ever since it was announced that aDark Soulsremasteris arriving this year.

The mention of “current-gen game systems” would suggest that this particular classic game remake is multi-platform. But Sony still owns the rights to theDemon’s SoulsIP, and it is highly unlikely that a remake of that game would ever release on a non-Sony console.
However, the mention of multiple games consoles could be a misnomer, especially given Bluepoint’s history. Not only did the studio create theShadow of the Colossusremake for PS4, but it also developed the PS3 remaster of the originalShadow of the Colossus, as well as remasters forGod of War,Uncharted, andGravity Rush. Out of the 10 projects that Bluepoint Games has worked on since its founding in 2006, eight of them have been exclusive to Sony platforms.
It is more likely than not that Bluepoint’s next classic game remake is, in fact, exclusive to PS4 despite what the job listing says. This means that remakes of other PlayStation-exclusive franchise such asSyphon Filter(Sony just renewed the trademark) could well be on the cards.
Bluepoint Games’Shadow of the Colossusremake is available now for PlayStation 4.
