Hot off the announcement ofthe return of Crash Bandicootat PlayStation Experience comes news that the same Activision studio working onCrash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogywill also be working onDestiny.

Destiny’s creator and primary developer, Bungie, tweeted the news today:

It’s clear that Activision is building out a team of studios to work on theDestinyfranchise, similar to how it has brought in “helper” studios to work onCall of Duty. Vicarious Visions joins High Moon Studios, another Activision developer that is reportedly hard at work on content forDestiny 2.

This seems to be following a plan that Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg talked about earlier this year to provide asteady stream of content and support forDestiny’s sequel. It also lends credence to the leakedreport about a PC version ofDestiny 2coming, which also mentioned that Vicarious Visions was working on theDestinyfranchise, but there was no way to confirm that detail at the time.

As mentioned,Vicarious Visionsis working on Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, but the developer is best known for working on Activision’sSkylandersgames, includingSkylanders: Swap Force,Skylanders: SuperChargers, andSkylanders: Imaginators Crash Edition. Vicarious Visions was also the studio behindthe cancelledCall of Duty: Roman Warsthat never made its way out of development.

It’s unknown exactly what Vicarious Visions will be working on within theDestinyfranchise, but it is assumed that it will be either support forDestiny 2or for expansions that follow the sequel. This news also comes just a day after former BioWare lead producer Cameron Lee announced that he wasjoining Bungie as an executive producer.

It appears that development forDestiny 2and whatever downloadable content follows is hitting full steam. Virtually nothing is known about the sequel to Bungie’s mega-hit, but fans are turning their attention towardsDestiny 2hoping to learn more. That’s because, outside ofThe Dawninglive event launching later in December, Bungie has revealed nothing about any plans to bring new content toDestiny.

There are definitely big question marks rising up from announcements of Vicarious Visions and High Moon Studios being involved inDestiny’s development. What each studio is working on exactly and how much control or input Bungie has on that process are definitely of the most concern for fans. However, it should be comforting to fans that Activision is providing Bungie with some big resources to avoidcontent droughts and gapsin the future.
