OneElder Scrolls 5: Skyrimplayer recently went online to share a new game-breaking bug which caused their adopted child to fly away into the air and froze other NPCs.Skyrimis the latest entry in Bethesda’s iconicElder Scrollsfranchise, and has been released multiple times since its initial launch back in 2011. WhileSkyrimis known for its magic based combat and cinematic dragon encounters, the fantasy RPG is also known for its many odd bugs, such as one thatturns the player into a horse. While many ofSkyrim’s bugs are comical, some are game-breaking, such as the bug that caused the child to fly.
Skyrimis still quite popular today, despite having released over a decade a go. The game’s active modding community continuously breathes life into the game world. One such mod evenuses AI to give NPCs memories, adding a level of depth and detail to the world ofSkyrimthat players hadn’t imagined possible. Reddit user klimekam shared a thirty-second clip of the bug, which showed them talking to their in-game adopted daughter as she floats away. In the post’s caption, klimekam mentions they thought the bug only caused their daughter to fly away, but upon further exploration it froze every NPC. While the cause of the bug is unknown, it serves as the latest example of a game-breakingSkyrimglitch and forced klimekam to start a new save.
Commenters on klimekam’s post shared their response to the bug, and their own experiences with other game-breaking bugs in Bethesda games. One commenter mentions they’ve encountered the same bug inOblivion, the fourth mainElder Scrollsentry, which is actually beingunofficially remade by fans inSkyrim’s engine. Despite the fact thatOblivionwas released five years prior toSkyrim, it would appear that the game-breaking bug remained within the engine both games share, meaning it could be in other Creation Engine titles.
Skyrimis one of the most iconic RPGs in gaming history, but despite the continued support of an active modding community and multiple releases on other platforms, the game still has many issues. It’s littered with bugs, such as one that makesSkyrimlook like the town of Silent Hill. While fans are eagerly awaiting the nextElder Scrollstitle, some are apprehensive about the possibility of it including more game-breaking bugs likeSkyrim.
