Summary

SomeStarfieldplayers love how Bethesda handled the dialogue in the game, with one fan even going as far as saying that the writers should get a raise for how well done it is. Much like many of the Bethesda games before it, the dialogue options inStarfieldare a major highlight of the game.

The dialogue options in Bethesda games are all about agency and choice. Games likeThe Elder Scrolls 5: SkyrimandFallout 4offer branching paths and multiple outcomes based on the player’s decisions, making each choice feel more impactful and personal. Thedialogue choices inStarfieldcontinue this tradition, except this time, there are way more to pick from, as this game has over 250,000 lines of spoken dialogue. With that much dialogue written for the game, it was imperative for Todd Howard, the director ofStarfield, to make sure that these lines were written to be as immersive and engaging as possible. According to some fans of the game, Howard and the team knocked it out of the park.

Reddit user Ferdinandofthedogs posted an example of animmersive dialogue option inStarfield, which shows four different options for the player to choose from. The first option mentions that the character has done things they’re not proud of, the second plays with the dynamics of an adult speaking to a child, and the fourth choice ends the conversation. It’s the third option that the player highlights as an immersive piece of dialogue that reads: “Because I have crippling social anxiety, and conversations with people I don’t know make me nervous.” This introverted option resonated with the original poster, as well as many people in the comments, due to how common social anxiety seems to be these days.

Another Reddit user by the name of 22paynem pointed out ahilarious dialogue option inStarfieldthat, according to them, had them laughing for a minute straight. In the image, the player has to choose from three different options. The first option confirms that the character understands their instructions, and the third option asks if another character named Issa has control of the building. It’s the second option that 22paynem highlights that reads: “No. I’m an elevator person now. I build my kingdom here.” It’s a strange and sarcastic choice that seems to come out of nowhere, but it’s funny nevertheless.

Ferdinandofthedogs and 22paynem were not the only Redditors who enjoyed thewell-written dialogue inStarfieldas many people in the comments mentioned some of their favorite lines as well. These included, “If I had cloaking tech, I wouldn’t be arguing with you in a hallway,” and “Do you know any human jokes?”
