A Bethesda job listing seems to suggest that voice acting onStarfieldhas begun. At E3 2018, Bethesda’s Todd Howard did confirm that thesci-fi RPG is in a playable stateafter having been in development at the company for a very long time.
Bethesda has posted a job listing looking for a voice designer who will be part of the team “pushing the bleeding-edge of RPG development for the PC and consoles.” The designer will help to create and outsource dialogue for Bethesda’s next generation AAA games, explains the listing. Bethesda is only working on two announced games,StarfieldandThe Elder Scrolls 6.The Elder Scrolls 6isstill in pre-productionwhich means that the voice designer position is probably forStarfield.

The voice designer will have to respond “efficiently” to voice asset demands from several development teams, test the game’s audio systems, get voiceovers ready for the final game state, create original voice audio content from scripts, and more. Candidates for the job need to have at least two years of experience in the game voice audio industry, as well as “excellent” audio engineering skills, and experience in production and the casting of voice actors.
Other Bethesda games haven’t had the best voice acting, and fans will remember the “I took an arrow to the knee” line fromThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. Bethesda’s new voice designer may be able to verify that lines like that don’t make it intoStarfieldtoo.
The voice designer job listing does suggest that development onStarfieldis going well. However, it doesn’t mean that fans will get the game any sooner than expected. Howard has also confirmed thatStarfieldwon’t be at E3 2019, withThe Elder Scrolls 6skipping the annual games industry event as well.Starfieldmay be about to add voice lines but Bethesda isn’t ready to show off the game just yet.
Bethesda has also said thatStarfieldis a next-generation game, so it probably won’t be released until the PS5 and the next Xbox are released. These consoles are rumored to be releasing in holiday 2020, so the next generation of consoles andStarfieldare all over a year away. For fans who have waited years to hear aboutStarfield, that may seem like a while but Bethesda may have much to show when it finally shares more about the game.
