While marooned on a desert island inStranded Deep,players will have to use every advantage they can to stay alive. As well as hunger and food, the waters are filled with vicious predators and even the sun will force players to seek shelter from its brutal heat.

With so many requirements to keep on top of, players will need to gather a lot of resources which makes storage space a valuable commodity. There are several items that can be used to increase carrying capacity. The main character starts the game with a backpack, and can later find crates to store non-essential items in. Wooden boxes can even beattached to the player’s raftallowing them to transport their items over long distances.
Using Tool Belts
Tool belts are upgradable items that can be used to unlock quick select slots for quickly accessing essential items. This keeps the player’s backpack space free for more resources which makes gathering materials much more efficient in the early game. The most basic tool belt can be built from a single lashing, which can be craftedby collecting fibrous leaves. If players find a scrap of cloth they can make a level 2 tool belt capable of holding more items.
Using Wooden Containers
Even in a co-op game, inventory space is limited and a group of survivalists will quickly acquire more materials and resources than they can carry. Wooden containers can be found around the islands near shipwrecks, plane wrecks and survivor remains. Each box can store up to 5 items on PC and 3 on consoles making them great for storing extra resources and other non-essential objects.
Placing things in these containers can be confusing, as it is only possible to transfer items from the main inventory and not from toolbelts. To place items in storage, players should open it and click the bag icon at the bottom of the screen to open their inventory. Clicking on an item will place it in the crate where it can be retrieved at a later date.
Container Shelves
Up to three wooden boxes can be stacked on top of each other by building a container shelf. Not only does this maximize storage space, but shelf units can also be attached to wooden rafts allowing players to transport multiple items to different islands. Building a shelf requires three piles of plank scrap which can be found inside container crates.
The player can also make their own planks by cutting down palm treesand using a plank station. Once players have their piles of scrap wood they can build a shelving unit by going into the furniture section of their crafting menu. With extra storage space, players will be ableto build bigger raftsand bases much more efficiently.
Shipping Containers - For Shelter, Not Storage
Often when investigating wreckages, players will stumble across large metal shipping containers. While these items are not capable of being used for storage, they make great shelter for players in the early game and they protect from all the elements, both rain, and sun.
Once players have set up a better, more permanent base, theycan dismantle these containersto get scrap metal. Breaking the metal walls will require a single crude or refined ax, which can be made from one lashing, one stick, and two stones.
