Sombra is the latestOverwatchcharacter to show up inStreet Fighter V, thanks to a new mod that swaps in the hacker’s appearance in place of Laura Matsuda.
Overwatch’s Sombra has beenout on all platformsfor about two weeks now and the expert hacker has become quite popular among the game’s player base. But now, it seems that Sombra is so popular, in fact, that she’s managed to hack her way into an entirely different video game:Street Fighter V.
As reported bySiliconera, a creative modder has found a way to create a Sombra skin for fighter Laura Matsuda. SomeStreet Fighter Vfans did note uponSombra’s reveal at BlizzCon 2016that the newOverwatchcharacter bears a resemblance to Laura and so modder The JamK’s creation isn’t all that surprising.

As seen in the above trailer, Laura’s abilities and emotes still look and sound the same while skinned, but it is pretty funny to hear “Sombra” use a decidedly different accent than what players are accustomed to. Visually speaking, however, it really does look like Sombra - a fact that perhaps shouldn’t be surprising as this isn’t the first time TheJamK has created anOverwatchskin forStreet Fighter V.
TheJamK has alsocreatedStreet Fighter Vskins for Mei,Tracerand Reinhardt, so he’s clearly a seasoned pro at this sort of thing by now. As some gamers have noted,Overwatch’s unique character designs seem to have attracted a lot of fighting game fans to Blizzard’s popular FPS, so this kind of merger between the two titles feels pretty natural. Blizzard has stated it might be a little while until it releases anotherOverwatchhero, but when it happens, it probably won’t be long until TheJamK or anotherStreet Fighter Vmod creator is on the case.
As far as more official support forStreet Fighter Vgoes, Capcom recently announced that it envisions continuedupdates for the fighting game until 2020. On that front, the developer recently released a new stage that lets players go at it whilefighting on the wing of a moving airplane. ManyStreet Fighter Vplayers are also looking forward to next week’s PlayStation Experience in Anaheim, California, as Capcom has teased anupcoming character reveal for Akuma.
As for Sombra,Overwatchplayers are still trying to master her abilities while figuring outwhat will and will not workwhen skirmishing with other characters.Overwatchmay be getting a Christmas eventsometime in the near future, so perhaps the Hispanic hacker will get another new look for modders to play around with.
