A surprisingHorizon Forbidden Westclip has shown a Slaughterspine performing an extremely impressive backflip. The Slaughterspine is one of therarest enemies inHorizon Forbidden West, but this clip almost makes a mockery of the strong opponent.
Gamers have been flocking back to the game recently, after therelease of theHorizon Forbidden West: Burning ShoresDLC pack. Critics have widely praised the DLC as a worthwhile expansion to the game, providing a great reason to return to one of the best games of 2022. Developer Guerrilla Games is yet to confirm any further plans for the title, but if sales ofBurning Shoresare good, there’s no reason why post-launch support couldn’t continue forHorizon Forbidden West, even with a new game on the way.

The clip by Redditor benavid1 is surprising, to say the least. As Aloy fires her final arrow at the Slaughterspine, it dies. But rather than simply fall down, its corpse does a complete backflip, in what seems like a brilliant lesson in amateur dramatics. The ragdoll physics on show in the game here are hilarious, as it completely removes any sense of weight that the Slaughterspine has. Since the release of the game, there have been plenty of interesting bugs involving the game’s enemies. OnesillyHorizon Forbidden Westbug showed an enemy sliding away from Aloy, so it’s clear some elements of the title aren’t 100 percent polished yet.
Despite these types of bugs occurring in the game, most players would prefer this to anything game-breaking. AnotherHorizon Forbidden Westbug saw a Tideripper flying into outer space, and while that might break immersion for a brief moment, it’s still much preferable to a glitch that corrupts a save file, for example. There are so many examples of games being released these days crippled by glitches, that it’s almost refreshing when the biggest problems with a game are some silly physics bugs.
The future of the franchise is extremely exciting. AfterHorizon Forbidden West, Guerrilla Games recently hinted that a third installment in the franchise is on the way, with strong rumors of a multiplayer title as well. It would be a huge change, but has plenty of potential. Elsewhere, theHorizonTV series remains in development at Netflix. News on the adaptation has been quiet for a while now, with no release date in sight. However, if it’s a success in the same way thatThe Last of Uswas on HBO, it has the potential to open up theHorizonfranchise to a brand-new audience.
