Even without Sony this year, E3 2019 continued to deliver big trailers, major surprises, and a wealth of new information regarding many of the biggest and highly anticipated releases from companies like Bethesda, Ubisoft, Microsoft, and more. Unlike last year, not a lot of studios opted to show gameplay in their trailers, meaning the majority of what people saw at the show was CG. Whether that’s due to the upcoming next generation of consoles or the hesitancy to show something too early is anyone’s guess.

Regardless, there was still a lot of great content shown off so in no particular order, here are the best trailers from E3 2019:

15Cyberpunk 2077

One of, if not the biggest name at E3 2019 was CD Projekt RED’s ambitious open world title,Cyberpunk 2077. The CGtrailerintroduced fans to the male version of V, showed off plenty of new story elements, and finally gave people an actual release date for the game. With one of the biggest questions now answered, the studio upped the ante even further by announcing the inclusion of Johnny Silverhandplayed by none other than Keanu Reeves.

14The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Sequel Tease

As Nintendo has pointed out in the past, it is a company that tends to focus on the near term, showing off games and projects that typically launch within a year. However, Nintendo made a shocking reveal at the very end of its E3 2019 Direct by breaking from tradition to show teaser footage for a sequel toThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Thefootage shows Link and Zeldaexploring a dungeon below Hyrule Castle and running into what could be a reanimated corpse of Ganon.

13Halo: Infinite

Arguably Microsoft’s biggest game,Halo: Infinite, was back at E3 this year, getting a featured spot at the very end of its annual press conference. This year’s footage was more story-centric, revealing an unnamed UNSC pilot discovering Master Chief floating in space. After reviving the iconic hero, a mysterious yellow lightning strikes the USNC Pelican, prompting Master Chief to grab a gun and jump out of the ship. For fans wanting more, Microsoft is essentiallyputtingHalo Infiniteback on ice until E3 2020ahead of its holiday 2020 launch on Project Scarlett.

12Super Smash Bros Ultimate - Banjo-Kazooie Reveal

The second of two Smash Bros DLC reveals, this one came at near the end of Nintendo’s E3 2019 presentation. It smartly reused King K. Rool’s reveal trailer, this time putting the King inside of Donkey Kong’s house with Diddy. The trailer played out similarly with the Duck Hunt Dog trolling the group untilBanjo and Kazooie finally showed upand revealed their inclusion at long last. For many fans, it was also a cool moment to see King K. Rool, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Banjo, and Kazooie all together once again considering their shared history under the development studio Rare.

11Watch Dogs Legion

AlthoughWatch Dogs Legionleaked a few days aheadof its planned reveal, the trailer was able to really show off the unique mechanics and gameplay that Ubisoft was going for with this ambitious title. Fans got a good look at how they’ll be able to recruit anyone in the game and then switch to them as a fully voiced and animated character. From punk rockers, grandmothers, business professionals, and everyone in between,Watch Dogs Legionlets players drive the action how they want in this near future version of London.

10Final Fantasy VII Remake

At the beginning of the Square Enix E3 2019 presentation, fans received an extended look at the highly anticipatedFinal Fantasy 7 Remake. A lengthy trailer also provided another glimpse at the game includingthe new combat mechanics, boss battles, and previously unrevealed characters like Tifa Lockhart and Sephiroth. Midgar was also featured heavily in the footage, including some sweeping wide shots that seem to hint the city will play a bigger role in the story this time around.

9Marvel’s Avengers

Outside ofFinal Fantasy 7, the other major title fans were anticipating from Square Enix wasMarvel’s Avengers. While this game had been previously announced, nearly nothing had been shown.The E3 2019 trailer gave fans their first lookat the game and its five starting heroes: Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, and Black Widow. As the trailer reveals, a celebration turns deadly, splitting up the team until five years later when new threats force them to reassemble.

8Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

At its own EA Play E3 2019 event, Electronic Arts gave fans their first real look atStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Orderon Saturday at EA Play. However, a day later during Microsoft’s press conference, a new trailer was shown off revealing gameplay moments from the lengthy demo as well as new footage of Cal not previously seen. Plenty of story details were also strewn in throughout including the game’s many support characterslike the rebel Saw Gerrera, who manyStar Warsfans will remember from other media such as films, TV, and comics.

7Deathloop

Having gone quiet since the release ofDishonored 2andDeath of the Outsider, Arkane Studios returned to E3 2019 to premiere the firsttrailer for its newest IP calledDeathloop. The stylish and action-heavy trailer reveals two characters who appear to be in constant conflict with one another in a never-ending loop on an island known as Blackreef. These two assassins continually battle each other in an effort to protect what they believe in either breaking or keeping the cycle alive.

6Ghostwire: Tokyo

The next major project from Shinji Mikami and Tango Gameworks was revealed at Bethesda’s E3 2019 conference. Known asGhostwire: Tokyo,the stylish CG trailer showed off a futuristic-looking Japan where many of its citizens have vanished into thin air. Fans can also see a few horror elements mixed in with what appear to be supernatural beings going up against the main character who wields a bow and has access to abilities.
