TheGod of Warfranchise evolved in a major way with 2018’s release, introducing a brand-new style of gameplay and a whole new mythology for Kratos to explore. While many players arelooking forward to the 2021God of War Ragnaroksequel, some fans have not forgotten where the series started. Not only do the original trilogy and PSP titles still hold up well enough to be deserving of a remaster, but the PS5 is a perfect platform for such an update to be made.

While a full-on, Bluepoint-like remake of the originalGod of Wargames is unlikely, minor visual upgrades and the use of certain PS5 features are more than enough to justify a remaster. Though the originalGod of Wargames were ported to PS2 andGod of War 3saw a PS4 release, having the entirety of the franchise on one platform would be a major positive. With several things making a re-release seem like a good idea, it could only be a matter of time before old school, hack-and-slashGod of Wargameplay is seen again.

Making Use Of The DualSense Controller

One of the most widely praised aspects of the PlayStation 5 isthe DualSense controller, making it a must-use accessory if Sony plans on bringingGod of Warback to its roots through a remaster. With Haptic Feedback, players can feel as if they are moving on different surfaces and carrying out different actions — something that could be used brilliantly in a remaster of the originalGod of Wargames. Feeling the trapped bodies of Hades grasp Kratos as he attempts to flee the Greek Underworld could be interesting, with more gruesome options allowing players to feel the Ghost of Sparta ripping off Helios’ head inGod of War 3.

Players could feel every hit as Kratos decimates Zeus in the finale of the original trilogy, while the steps taken by the massive Ares can cause huge controller vibrations during a playthrough of the first game. Adaptive Triggers can be used alongside Haptic Feedback to make certain quick time events feel weightier and more intense, while the PS5’s 3D audio could further improve the experience. With Sony havingconsideredGod of Warremastersalready, it should move forward with the idea soon — especially if the DualSense is used properly in the new versions of the games.

Having The Entire Series On One Console

The other major benefit of remastering theGod of Wargames focused on Greek Mythology is that the entire franchise would exist on one platform. With the latestGod of Wargame already part ofthe PlayStation Plus collection, bringing the older titles to PS5 would make the latest Sony console the best place to play the entire series. Beyond that, it would give newcomers the chance to either start the series from the beginning or return to the older games for context after playing the latest entry.

A prime example of why this is necessary is shown in a clip taken fromoriginalGod of Warcreator David Jaffe’s playthroughof the 2018 game. The influential video game developer is thrilled to see Kratos wielding the Blades of Chaos once again at the game’s midway point, with the weapon’s addition delivering a massive wave of nostalgia for longtime fans. However, players who missed the chance to play the games that started the series will completely miss the weight of this moment, as Kratos picking up the cursed weapons once again carries a far different meaning to those familiar with the character.

By allowing players to easily play through all theGod of Wargames on one platform, players that have never touched aGod of Wargame can start from the very beginning. Further, longtime fans can do a full playthrough of the series beforeRagnarok begins in theGod of Warsequel, allowing for the story to be fresh in their minds. With DualSense-enhanced gameplay possible as well, it seems like the time is now for a newGod of Warcollection to be released.
