It’s no secret that the era of digital card games is quickly descending upon fans and gamers with no previous experience with the genre alike. Ever since Blizzard took the PC and mobile gaming worlds by storm with itsmassively profitableHearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, other publishers have been scrambling to craft their own answer to a market that had barelyexisted a mere year or two ago and is now quickly being cornered. The results have been mixed, with many getting dismissed right out of the gate as aHearthstoneclone - and so Bethesda rather quietly announcedThe Elder Scrolls: Legendsand bided its time before revealing more details.
All fans have really discovered since the game’s initial reveal is that the card game they had no idea how to play was going to remain a mystery for a while longer, asThe Elder Scrolls: Legendswas delayedearlier this year. Those who have been patiently waiting for more information were rewarded in a big way by Bethesda at E3 2016, however, as a shocking number of details were finally revealed.

First, rumors that the game might try and approach the same markets that Blizzard targeted withHearthstonewere completely accurate -Legendswill be coming to mobile devices as well as the PC. That’s huge news, as it means some significant competition for Blizzard and another opportunity for Bethesda to solidify its reputation in the mobile games market after thesuccess ofFallout Shelter.
Second, and perhaps most important to fans of the digital card game industry, Bethesda unveiled a number of important gameplay elements that will characterizeLegends. Players will sling cards at each other using a lane system that is not unlikeGwent, which is also rumored to become a new IPat this E3 2016. Decks will be fully customizable, and players will be able to battle against the AI in campaign mode or other players in both battle and arena modes.
